Here's a place to add your favorite quotes. Here's mine for the day:

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to $3.00 a can.

That's almost $21.00 in dog money.

Just some cute ones from an e-mail. This list included the quote about the internet on my sig...enjoy!

Life is sexually transmitted.

Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you don't see him excited, make him a sandwich!

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing.

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Many terrorists come to America legally and hang around on expired Visas (some for as long as 10-15 years). At Blockbuster you're two days late with a video rental and those people are all over you. I think we should put Blockbuster in charge of US Immigration.

There are literally an endless number of gems floating around out there. From one minute to the next I have a new favorite. I just saw these a few minutes ago:

A friend knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you forget the words.

Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

There was a time when religion ruled the world. It is known as the Dark Ages.

Everything sounds more serious in German!

I love quotations and have a constantly changing group of favorites. Here's one that's cited in so many places that it's become a cliché, but it's still worth repeating:

"If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" -- Rabbi Hillel

LBJ, when asked why he didn't fire FBI director J. Edgar Hoover: "I'd rather have him on the inside pissing out than on the outside pissing in."

Here are a few more that I found today:

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."

-Helen Keller

"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."

-Thomas Paine

One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries. A. A. Milne

Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
