For those of you having a hard time getting your Water in, try this:

Fill a 2 quart pitcher of Water and put it on your kitchen counter/work desk and just keep filling up your glass/cup/mug. If it's really hot, it goes in the fridge. I always have my glass with me. If I walk into the kitchen, it goes with me and I top it off. Some days I get all of it in. Some days most of it. Every day is at least more than half. It helps to have the visual. Keeps me thinking about it and drinking.

It IS hard though. I did the same thing with the pitcher before surgery and almost ALWAYS got my water in for the day, if not more, but since... Lets just say I try really hard. And am usually FULL all the time b/c of all the water! UGH!

I am OBESE! It has been almost six months since I was banded. I started out with a BMI of 41 (Morbidly Obese) and now have a BMI of 34 (Obese)...It seems I worked right on through 35-39 (Severly Obese) without looking. I KNOW I have lengthened my life and become a much healthier person in a short six months.

One more positive - My waist circumference/waist hip ratio is .72...I am at the lowest risk for heart disease/obesity related disease. When I began it was .85 - the highest risk.

I've been discouraged lately with the scales - but looking at these numbers (not pounds) puts a different perspective on things. Pounds don't always count. My life has forever been changed thanks to my band and the support of everyone on here.

I know I couldn't have been as successful if it weren't for all of you. I still have a long way to go - but know anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

I love positive news, it's motivating.

I've been banded about a month and:

I was at costco and they were just putting out some Wii Fit's for $79, I grabbed 2 before they were all gone in under a minute.

Thanks to that thing, I exercise every day and enjoy it.

I had to poke a second hole in my belt to keep my pants on.

Today I am wearing jeans that I haven't worn in so long they have dust on them.

We still eat out 3-4 times a week and we're saving at least $10-20 each time since I share a plate or order just an appetizer and only get Water to drink since I won't drink it all anyway.

I'm starting to go up stairs 2 at a time without even thinking about it.

I weighed myself right before banding and was weighed once at the Dr, and that's it. I don't care as long as my pants keep getting looser.

Last night, my wife said I "feel different, and in a good way." That's all I'm saying about that. :D

It's funny you say that. I fill a pitcher everyday and take it to work so it will be on my desk. Guess what, I never drink it. lol

Great advice though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
