I totally understand your delema. I was so ready to get the surgery and get going. I have lost weight, however am eating like crap and no exercise. I will start Monday also, if they even remember me at the gym. I had surgery on May 2nd.. Learning to eat again is hard, keep thinking I can eat what I want only small amounts. should eliminated all sugar. I cant to breads or most heavy food, managing to loose 2 or more lbs per week, but not good food choices still.

Good luck!

Well good morning. I am replying to myself in this post. ;) I am drinking a carnation instant Breakfast with some added skim milk to add Protein. Should keep me full till lunch time. I awoke this morning with a refreshed attitude. No bread bc it is a huge down fall for me and I CAN get it down,at least until I get a fill. So say GOOD MORNING TO THE NEW ROBYN, ON HER WAY TO A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE!!!!!

Good morning, Robyn!! It's nice to see such enthusiasm. ;) I know I've felt the same way a million times on my way to a healthier self.

While it's absolutely terrific to cheer yourself on, I fear that the flip side of this is unnecessary recriminations when "solemn promises" aren't kept 100%. Please remember that we're taking baby steps on our way to a PERMANENT change of lifestyle. Every day you manage to keep your promises to yourself is a banner day indeed, but I hope it doesn't mean you're beating yourself up for days on which you are just human. One of the greatest things about being banded is that it means the end of the dieter's highs and lows--in their place is a constant slow trend of eating healthier and making small changes that will last. No more rollercoaster!! :)

Great start Robyn.... Did you join the Summer Challenge. I find that when I set a goal and tell as many people as I can about it, I am more apt to stick with it. Also, try keeping a food journal. It's a proven fact that if you force yourself to write down everything you put in your mouth, even if it is 1 bite of cookie, you will do better. When I find myself in a rut I can go back and see where my trouble times of the day are. Then I plan an activity durring those time so I'm not around food. Example,I know I snack between 2-3 in the afternoon and after dinner. So, now I take my son to afternoon Karate at 2:30 so we are out of the house and after dinner I give my son a bath then jump on the treadmill to get rid of the urge to snack. This works for me mabey it will work for you. Any who, good luck!

Hi Robyn

We got banded the same day. I am having some problems because I don't feel like anything has been done. I do however, eat a bit less because I do feel full quicker, but since the surgery, I have only lost 10 pounds. I see that you have lost 22...is that since your surgery? That is great. Maybe we can "be email buddies" to help each other out!

Good luck in your journey. I have a check up on the 30th and hopefully he will give me a fill so at least I can start losing weight.

Talk to ya soon.

Good morning Robyn - how are you doing today? I also have carnation instant breakfast as my Protein Drink. I add a tablespoon of dry milk for the extra Protein. I too have just started exercising - I seem to always have an excuse not to do it just like before the surgery.

Seems i fill my days with my daughter and my homework and then im just flat out tired........who the hec wants to excercise like that?

I get my first fill July 7 and my fiance says he is gonna crack down on me after that. He really does care about me, he comes and sits in the room if im eating because he is scared i will pb or else hirt my band or something crazy....

So i swear.....after my fill im off to the gym at least 2-3 times a week to start and maybe i can get away from this 25 pound plataue(SP) ive hit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
