lellow 1,713 Posted October 8, 2008 I don't know if any Dr does it without a gap if you're a private patient. I paid $170 for my pre-op appt (got some back from Medicare), $1950 for out of pocket for Dr Watson to do my surgery, and about $136 in hospital fees (don't know what for though). I paid nothing for the anaethetist, he was completely covered by my Health Fund. I now pay $150 per fill, and get about $100 of that back from Medicare. So without the fills, I paid just over $2000 all up. Pretty good when I have mid-level cover with HBF.
Ange05 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Thats great lellow. Because I paid out of pocket, I paid $5200 for the surgery, but because my Dr owns multiple weight loss clinics that also included all fills for a year, appointments with the dietician, exercise physio and physcologist. cuddles_01au 0 Posted October 11, 2008 sorry it has taken me a while to answer Please note I have copied this from another lapband site and it is not my posting....just information I have read Dr Hainul Ahmad has ZERO gap if you have the surgery at SGOGM. the only trick to it all is to make sure you book your surgery on a date he is using an anethetist that your insurer has an agreement with that way you will have zero out of pocket expenses unless you have that hospital gap some people do of $200 etc with some hospital covers. Dr Ahnad uses anethetists who are covered by both HBF and HIF that I know of and probably others as well. If you go to your GP and ask for a care plan you will get your dietician and sports physcio for free as well.
FalloutGirl 0 Posted October 16, 2008 Hmmm I'm with HCF I'm praying they cover most of it, I mean I knew I'd be out of pocket a little, but if it's $4k that might change my mind on getting it done So hope that isn't the case
