Hi,

I am one week into surgery, on full liquids. Can anyone give me some tips on eating on the go like, running errands or something to take to eat in the car.

Thanks!

I was banded July 06 so I have really forgotten the food guidelines but... I do remember taking a cooler in my car with pudding , Jello , yogurt and surgar free drinks just in case I got in a bind.

I hope you get some suggestions.

YOU CAN DO IT.

your band sister,

edie

Yes thats what I do. I bought a really cute soft sided cooler from Target "with poka dots" and take Jello, Yogert, Cottage cheese, and A Protein Shake so I'm not stuck in a situation were I need to go in that fast food lane. I put everything in little tupperware containers already measured out and take plastic spoons.

That would depend, though, on if your surgeon considers cottage cheese and yogurt "full liquids". Mine did not. Those were Mushies in his dietary guidelines.

Yes my surgeon considered these full liquids "cottage cheese and yogurt" plus and whole lot more like oatmeal. I know they are all different. Remember when I was freaking out because I didn't have to go on a "liquid" pre-op diet? and it seems like everybody else on here did.

How about a Protein bullet? They come in a plastic tube which the label says is "virtually indestructable" so you should be able to put them in your purse. Protein Powder packs well too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
