Finally on the right track to exercise

Recommended Posts

Im finally exercising and losing weight. I was banded of course in June, and have lost a total of 44lbs with no effort to exercise, so now, I have it stuck in my head that I need to exercise, I need to get out and do something and I am. And last night was the first night back to the gym. My best friend went with me, and was my perfect motivation. I done only 20 mins walking, and worked out on some weights. Not a lot of weights. Does anyone know what restrictions we have when doing weights what we can and can not do? I just had my gallbladder taken out. I have now 7 holes in my tummy. Knowing I will have to have plastic surgery to have them removed. Anyway, just wanted to check in and let everyone know about whats going on. Please all write back, let this be just a random thread.

i was banded in April and have lost 40 pounds without any exercise. i had to get a slight unfill because i was PB'ing too much but now my weight loss has stopped so i know i have to start adding in exercise.

i joined a "beginner's running" class and the trainer claims i'll be able to run in a 5k race by the middle of November but i'm not sure i believe her!

during the first class we had to run a mile... or run and walk if we had to. i finished last. i was depressed and upset and swore i wasn't going back but now i want to prove to myself that i CAN do this!

now i just have to get my legs to agree with me!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
