Deep Water Aerobics

Recommended Posts

I tried this for the first time tonight and it was so fun! I totally recommend it! You do it in the deep end so you tread Water and you're moving the whole time!

You wear a little floatie belt around your waist, so no sinking!

I did it again tonight, and I'm telling you- it's awesome! Nothing "wimpy" about it... like what you think of when thinking of regular Water aerobics!

Yes, I've dont this and loved it. Its quite athletic, ordinary Water aerobics is a little, ah, geriatric for my tastes, lol.

Plus you dont get sore feet from the bottom of the pool.

I had to finish it off with 20 laps of the 50 metre pool just so I felt I'd had a really good session though. It takes a lot of swimming to tire you out as much as a long run and I'm kind of obsessive, unless I"m nearly puking I dont feel like I've done enough.

Oh that is so cool! I have always wanted to do Water Aerobics. Where do you go to do the Deep Water Aerobics? I really want to do it.

The only problem is getting me into a swimsuit:blush:

I've been doing deep Water aerobics for about 5 years now.

Without diet, it doesn't do much for weight, but it definitely makes a difference as far as toning and stamina (I was doing it at 420 pounds, and when I would miss a few sessions, I could tell it immediately)

Great work out. I recommend it to anyone -

Check your local public pool. I do mine at one of the city pools. I also decided to take off the floatie belt and do it without. It's a much harder workout. Doing the deep Water aerobics inspired me to swim, so now I am doing laps for 45 minutes before the class and THEN the 45 minute class! I LOVE both!

Hey Jean-

Don't worry about the swimsuit thing! I promise you, nobody cares! We're all just so happy to have some exercise that is fun and feels good. Give it a shot - you'll LOVE it!

Every evening when I get home from the pool, I am so glad I worked out! I am feeling SO SO SO much better.

Swimming laps and doing the class is making me feel so much better about myself. And I don't feel FAT in the Water. My body does what I expect it to, so I like that. Unlike when doing other things and I can feel my body not doing what it's supposed to because I can't.

For an extra challenge, don't wear the floatation belt.

My deep Water aerobics instuctor said that they tested her workout, and one workout gets rid of 500 calories!!!! I LIKE that..... I have lost all of my weight from Water aerobics alone. I have bad arthritis and can't do much else. I love it. The belt hurts my port site though, so I do the whole class without the belt. It's a LOT harder to do it that way, but I figure I'm burning even more calories that way. The more weight I lose, and the less bouyant, the harder it gets. So it keeps me challenged. I highly recommend it as well.

the regular water aerobics can be "geriatric" like Jachut says, but if you get the right instructor it can be brutal. I have three regular instructors and they go from one end of the spectrum to the other. My surgeon has told me that my muscles are nicely toned as a result, so I'm happy.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
