littlefroggy 0 Posted September 30, 2008 I tried this for the first time tonight and it was so fun! I totally recommend it! You do it in the deep end so you tread Water and you're moving the whole time! You wear a little floatie belt around your waist, so no sinking!
littlefroggy 0 Posted October 2, 2008 I did it again tonight, and I'm telling you- it's awesome! Nothing "wimpy" about it... like what you think of when thinking of regular Water aerobics!

Jachut 487 Posted October 2, 2008 Yes, I've dont this and loved it. Its quite athletic, ordinary Water aerobics is a little, ah, geriatric for my tastes, lol. Plus you dont get sore feet from the bottom of the pool. I had to finish it off with 20 laps of the 50 metre pool just so I felt I'd had a really good session though. It takes a lot of swimming to tire you out as much as a long run and I'm kind of obsessive, unless I"m nearly puking I dont feel like I've done enough. LJB 0 Posted October 11, 2008 Oh that is so cool! I have always wanted to do Water Aerobics. Where do you go to do the Deep Water Aerobics? I really want to do it. The only problem is getting me into a swimsuit:blush:
stevegoad 32 Posted October 11, 2008 I've been doing deep Water aerobics for about 5 years now. Without diet, it doesn't do much for weight, but it definitely makes a difference as far as toning and stamina (I was doing it at 420 pounds, and when I would miss a few sessions, I could tell it immediately) Great work out. I recommend it to anyone -
littlefroggy 0 Posted October 12, 2008 Check your local public pool. I do mine at one of the city pools. I also decided to take off the floatie belt and do it without. It's a much harder workout. Doing the deep Water aerobics inspired me to swim, so now I am doing laps for 45 minutes before the class and THEN the 45 minute class! I LOVE both!
ReeRee 0 Posted October 12, 2008 Hey Jean- Don't worry about the swimsuit thing! I promise you, nobody cares! We're all just so happy to have some exercise that is fun and feels good. Give it a shot - you'll LOVE it!
LJB 0 Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks ReeRee I'll go check out what they have at the YMCA in my neighborhood. should be lots of fun!
littlefroggy 0 Posted October 14, 2008 Every evening when I get home from the pool, I am so glad I worked out! I am feeling SO SO SO much better. Swimming laps and doing the class is making me feel so much better about myself. And I don't feel FAT in the Water. My body does what I expect it to, so I like that. Unlike when doing other things and I can feel my body not doing what it's supposed to because I can't. For an extra challenge, don't wear the floatation belt. aubrie 6 Posted October 15, 2008 My deep Water aerobics instuctor said that they tested her workout, and one workout gets rid of 500 calories!!!! I LIKE that..... I have lost all of my weight from Water aerobics alone. I have bad arthritis and can't do much else. I love it. The belt hurts my port site though, so I do the whole class without the belt. It's a LOT harder to do it that way, but I figure I'm burning even more calories that way. The more weight I lose, and the less bouyant, the harder it gets. So it keeps me challenged. I highly recommend it as well. the regular water aerobics can be "geriatric" like Jachut says, but if you get the right instructor it can be brutal. I have three regular instructors and they go from one end of the spectrum to the other. My surgeon has told me that my muscles are nicely toned as a result, so I'm happy.
