Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Ashlee and I am 25 years old. I am married to the military and we are currently stationed at Nellis AFB. I weighed 310 when I was banded and now 10 days later I am at 289 lbs. I am really looking forward to hearing about other peoples experiences. Hi Ashlee,

My name is Debra and found out today my lapband surgery is scheduled for Nov 12th. How long after the surgery were you able to return to work? Have you experience any problems?

Thanks for any info.

Debra

I have to tell you that my cold feet came in the hospital right before the surgery and right after the surgery. I thought "what in the heck was I thinking?" but you know I thought about my family and all the things that I have been missing out on for so long due to my weight and I suddenly remembered that my reasons were valid and "YaY" for me! Just hang in there and don't let your nerves stop you from gaining control of your life again! Good luck and keep in touch , Let me know how it goes.

You know I was one of the lucky ones who really didn't experience and problems besides the gas left in there causing shoulder pain(ongoing) and severe Constipation after just the first day. That was nothing though. I was up at my sons soccer game the next day and cleaning my house two days later. I do not work unless you count domestic Goddess but I was finally able to bend over and pick up my floor for the first time about 8 days after the surgery. Good luck and stay in touch we will be here for you every step of the way.

I am doing great! I couldn't have asked for an easier recovery to be quite honest. I love the feeling of being full even if it is only for a little bit with the liquids. I have to admit I have cheated a bit and ate mac & cheese but I have drank it down I think I just needed that chewing sensation. I personally feel like I am ready to move on to solid foods but the docs are saying "no". So for now I will just keep up with the liquid and remember that there is an end to the liquid diet. Good luck with yours and let me know how your recovery goes.

Ashlee

P.S. how do you put your "signature" on there? specifically your ticker? I tried with no success. Help would be wonderful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
