Everyone's "sweet spot" is different...it's when a person actually feels restriction. It may happen after the first, second, third and even maybe the 4th fill. Once a person feels restriction they are unabel to eat nearly the amount of food pre-op; and must begin to learn how to eat in a whole new way. Personally, I recently had my third fill and finally have restriction. I hope this helps you.

I also after six months finally felt my "SWEET SPOT" I didn't understand it myself till four days ago. I said okay that is what they are talking about. I eat three small meals now "FINALLY" it's a wonderful feeling when you feel your restrictions. It's worth the wait!

I've had 2 fills now and I get a third on Wednesday. It'll be 2 weeks this Wedn. since my last fill and I have lost 5.5 pounds. The first time between fill number 1 and 2 I lost 5. I think that's great. They were really impressed with my progress the last time. :cool2:

I have felt restriction and thrown up food because too much restriction - do you mean sweet spot is when it stays consistent because mine changes almost daily - some days I can eat anything I want (if I would let myself) and some days can't swallow anything but liquids - how do I know when I have hit the right amount of fill in my band. It is driving me nuts.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
