Bad new for me, I'm up 2lbs. :cry I knew this was coming, as I lost all restriction about 10 days ago, and I've really been making bad food choices, not to mention that I've hardly exercised. I'm off to see my doc today, and hopefully get another fill, and some motivation to go back to the bandster basics.

-50lbs since banding 3/30, and -22lbs since the challenge began

I've been working out SO HARD this week! Last night I knew my son had some fig newtons in his room and I could hear them calling to me, "Kare....come EAT US! WE'RE YUMMMY! EAT! EAT!"

But I PERSEVERED and abstained.

I haven't weighed all week because I was looking forward to seeing a dip on Monday for this challenge. 3:00 a.m. I got up to pee and decided it was officially Monday so stepped on the scale. OHNO! SAME as LAST Monday!! It hadn't budged a jot! Just sat there glaring 193 at me!

I was SOOOO PISSED! I went back to bed and layed there--GRRRRRRRR--and thought, just what the HECK do I have to DO???!! Then I thought, I might as well go eat the damn Fig Newtons. But by that time I was too snuggled to get up so I said to myself, "okay, Fig Newtons FOR BREAKFAST!!" and went back to sleep.

Alarm rang at 6:30 and I trundled off to the bathroom. There sat Helga (my dominatrix scale's name) just taunting me. What the heck, might as well stomp on her again....

and WHAT DID SHE SAY??? 191!!!

So I don't know what the heck my body did between 3 and 6 a.m. but I am happily, joyfully, exctatically DOWN TWO!!!

And newts are untouched. (Now THAT'S AN NSV!!!)

Hey Jonathan! Just put my new stats on your "Waisting Away" site. I thought we were supposed to list the loss from the beginning of this "Labor Day Weightloss Challenge." Your loss is listed at 118#.

Honey pie :) if you've lost ONEHUNDREDANDEIGHTEENPOUNDS since the start of this challenge, I wanna know WHAT you're doin'!!

But really, a 118# loss is phenomonal at any pace. GOOD JOB!

Lost another pound. I am at 180 today! I'm thrilled with that considering I ate everything but the kitchen sink this weekend!!! Hehehe

Kare, the very first rule is NEVER GIVE YOUR NAME TO Cookies, EVER. If you do, this is exactly what happens to you... they call you up in the middle of the night wanting to know if you want a good time. It's just so much simpler to not give them your name. Or your phone number. That's a bad idea too.

No NSVs for me. And I'm not going to step on the scales until I have too...

So I was wrong on the not having any NSV to report.

I had to go buy a big skirt for my Middle Eastnern Folk dance class... Yeah, they don't want us to call it "belly dancing" here, they feel it has "negative connotations." Yeah, what ever, it's belly dancing. :) I went to several stores trying to find a skirt that would match the requirements, let alone worry about the size thing... So at the 4th and final store I found one, a cocoa dip-dyed skirt. The biggest one was a LARGE, so I wasn't too hopeful. But I was brave and went to try it on. IT FIT! I just bought a size LARGE skirt. Not 2X, not XL, but just LARGE!!!

Mind you, when I bought my Large jacket, I really suspected that the label was wrong, that it had been marked Large in error at the factory, an that it was some sort of cosmic joke on me. Sort of like that pair of size 18 pants that I was able to fit into (didn't buy but that's a different story). I felt that was in error as well. Maybe it wasn't an aberation, maybe it's the truth.

I feel like I have no restriction at all. I still haven't lost any more weight, but I'll take my size shrinking.

I'm cashing out.

Started at 179.7(180), this morning I'm 171.7(172).

I met my goal of 5 lbs plus 3 for a total of 8.

I was never put on the chart. Good luck to everyone, and have a great weekend.

Aww, you guys quit cashing out!! Well done though. Maybe we didn't hit our goals but we are DOWN from where we were! That spells SUCCESS!!!

Each morning I get on the scale (I know, I know) and I'm down .2 pounds. I did 196.8, 196.6, 196.4, 196.2, 196.0, and this morning, 195.8. Huh? Anyhow, it's down and at the end of the week I'm losing a pound or two a week, right? So it's all good anyway.

I'll weigh in on Monday, Labor Day and post my morning bleary-eyed by the coffee pot pic. It will be interesting to compare a 12 or so pound loss (I was shooting for 15).

Ya'll don't forget your picture, okay? Maybe someone could do them side-by-side for us?

I nominate Jonathan for Moderator so he can get in here and do these things. Yeah? Yes!!! Jonathan for Moderator!!! Poor Penni is likely to get overloaded, especially with maintaining the Before/After thread. And all the pics I e-mail to her. I just love my idea...Jonathan?

Are we doing a Fall '05 Challenge? I get lots of mileage out of knowing I'm weighing in each week. I'm very happy with what I have accomplished!!!! Thanks everyone!!

I definately vote for a fall 2005 challenge. How about from Labor day until Monday of Thanksgiving week. That is 10 weeks.

I too like the accountability knowing that I'll weigh in every week. And seeing others in the challenge succeed definately motivates me.

I've already met my goal of 20lbs for this challenge, and can't wait until next Monday's weight in to see what the final numbers are. I'll have the camera ready bright and early Monday morning for the after pic.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
