feel so sad...alone

Recommended Posts

I lost my lap band almost a month ago due to a severe slip. By the time it was removed, my stomach was coal black and the surgeon thought he may have to remove the fundus of my stomach. Luckily, the blood supply began to return and my stomach was saved.

I am so horribly miserable now...I am still paying on my band, my last hope as I have tried EVERYTHING! In 3 weeks I have already gained almost 15 pounds and I am ALWAYS hungry. I do not want to have another surgery as I am so scared of ever going through what I went through before and the fact that I do not have the money. Not to mention my family would kill me if I decided on another bariatric surgery.

I have lost so much, feel so miserable and alone...I don't know where to turn, what to do, I feel sooooo fat and ugly, helpless and hopeless. This was literally my last hope and now is gone...what do I do now?

What a terrible experience! I'm so sorry this happened, but please don't give up on yourself or your weight loss. Talk to several doctors about your options. Please stay on the forum and give us a status.

Tanderson,

the most important thing right now is your health. I'm having mine out on Friday and am happy. I was one who actually never lost weight with the band so having it removed shouldn't make much of a difference either way but knowing it's finally gone I can proceed again with life! I know that sounds weird but it's true. Put the focus on something more important like the love of your family and your health and be glad for both. We all tend to obsess so much on our weight that it takes over our whole world at times and it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things. You're lucky you didn't lose your stomach imagine how life would have been then. Hope you're feeing better soon, Nanook!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
