I had my surgery on the 10th, and this past week my weight loss has slowed SOOO much! The first 2 weeks I lost atleast 7 pounds a week...I just weighed myself and Im only down 2 this week! ( dont get me wrong..Im happy for the 2 pounds...I am just confused as to why its not more) I'm only eating around 500 cals per day and I usually burn off 200 of those calories on the treadmill each day. So why arent I dropping weight like crazy?? Before surgery I would eat atleast 2500 calories per day..shouldnt the drastic change have me losing more each week?? I'm so frustrated and a little depressed that my weight loss has slowed down so much. Can anyone please help me understand why?

*sigh* thanks:crying:

Honestly, you aren't consuming enough calories and maybe your metabolism is slowing down. Try to ease up around 100-200 extra calories per day until you reach at least 1000. Make them good calories, a Protein drink, skim milk, etc. I try to keep my calories between a low of 1000 to a high of 1400. I try to hit the 1400 at least twice a week. I am still losing 2 lbs a week and I am 11 weeks post op. I also eat around a cup of food 3-4 times a day and am NEVER hungry.

Please don't starve your body. It makes me sad.

You have to really work to find the right calorie intake for you. My doctor said it will be between 800-1000 calories. I spent a week around 1200-1400 and didn't lose! I spent a week between 600-800 and didn't lose!

I went 3 weeks without losing, so I totally know how you feel! I had a fill and have lost again ranging from 900-1000 calories.

I am glad somebody posted this, I was feeling the same! I am between 800-1200 calories on a given day and I've gained two pounds, just adding soft food now! Very depressing! I guess I haven't found the right balance yet!

16_11_11.gif Allright all of you newbies welcome and good luck. Loosing and then gaining at this point is very natural. You go off liquids into the mushies and then regular foods, your body is trying to adjust to all the new changes going on. Some of you aren't getting enough calories and your body thinks it is starving so it goes into starvation mode. By this I mean it is hanging onto every calorie it gets. Ease up a little. Everyone is different. What is right for 1 person isn't right for the next. Listen to your body. I hope this helps you all some.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
