MistyD65 1 Posted September 28, 2008 A soft, clean pencil eraser, used gently, works wonders!
crzytchr 3 Posted September 28, 2008 I didn't touch them. I showered everyday and they fell off one-by-one. My smaller ones started falling off around 10 days post op. I don't think the last one (big port incision) came off until 4 weeks post op. Have ANY of them come off?
MEJONES 0 Posted September 28, 2008 I will try the pencil eraser, thanks for the tip. I have tried alcohol, soap, Shampoo, body scrub, body wash and my fingernails with no luck. To the other reply, I guess my question was too vague. I took my strips off but I was referring to the glue residue that was left behind. Sorry about that, I guess I thought everyone should know what I was thinking.lol:cursing:
Elizabethdb 0 Posted September 28, 2008 You are actually supposed to let the glue come off on its own. It stays on there as long as it needs to be and then it works its way off. I use to work in surgery and have had many surgeries with the glue. It will eventually come off. The eraser puts you at risk of rubbing a sore, opening an incision, and causing an infection. MistyD65 1 Posted September 28, 2008 I didn't touch any residue on or very close to my incisions, and did not bother the "synthetic scab" (as my surgeon called it) at all. That surgical glue came off on its own, but the residue those steri-strips left after being on there for 3 weeks wasn't budging. And it took only the very lightest touch of the eraser to take care of it. And there's always "Goo-Gone" - KIDDING! KIDDING!!!
littlefroggy 0 Posted September 28, 2008 Mine got very white and crusty for a bit but I didn't touch it. I let it be and it was fine.
speck 1 Posted September 28, 2008 I'm three weeks out and I just leave mine alone. It's slowly coming off.
HeatherO 7 Posted September 28, 2008 I wouldn't rush to get it off. It is not harming you by being there and if you try too hard to remove it you can irritate your skin. However, I have read a lot of threads on this topic and have found that people report that baby oil seems to be the most effective for removal.
