JulyBandster 1 Posted June 24, 2005 I am curious about my upcoming surgery on July 12 - how many of you had a catheter? If you did, was it removed before your awoke, or was it still in place after you were in your hospital room/recovery room? I am more nervous about that than I am about some other aspects of the surgery! LOL - why? I don't know.....
leatha_g 4 Posted June 24, 2005 I had a catheter and it was removed the following morning. This is not the case for everyone. Ask your doctor about his preference.

IamCanadian25 1 Posted June 25, 2005 he girl, i also had a catheter, like you i was dead set against have one...hell no i said, but when i woke up, all i could think was, OMG, god bless the catheter. When you wake up, your not going to want to move, let alone get up and go to the bathroom! iamcanadian25
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted June 25, 2005 Just had my surgery yesterday and no catheter. They said since the procedure was so short I didn't need one. They made me go pee right as I was walking into the operating room and no catheter. Okay, I did have a rough 2:00 in the morning need to go pee and it was a bit tough to get up, but in all, I'm glad no catheter.

HarleyNana 10 Posted June 25, 2005 The only reason I know I had one is because I was warned before surgery, but it was removed before I ever returned to my room. No problems.
dallasdoll 0 Posted June 25, 2005 they put one in after i was already unconscious... and then when i was coming out of anesthesia i remember somebody sayin they were taking it out... but i was 1/2 conscious... so it was great that way...
Chicagoboy 0 Posted June 25, 2005 They did not tell me I was having one but they did give me one and it was removed before I got up-TG.
dreamweaver 0 Posted June 25, 2005 I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. I did not wake up with a catheter and so if there was one, it had to have been put in and taken out during the time I was under anesthesia. But I really think I never had one. And by the way, I got up and walked within minutes of waking up.
aileena 1 Posted June 25, 2005 I didn't have one...They just had me pee before going in I guess it's your Dr's preference. Maybe you could ask not to have one.

"Nita 0 Posted June 25, 2005 Mine was done at an outpatient center. No cath. I went to the bathroom before they took me to the O.R. the only thing I had was an IV, blood pressure cuff, and the thing on my finger to messure blood oxygen and these strange leg stockings. They velcroed around my legs and they inflate and deflate (similar to blood pressure cuff) to sort of massage your legs and prevent clots.
