Hi Everybody! I just got banded 9/19!

Recommended Posts

My surgery was okay (i had minor complications), and my discomfort now is not too bad.

I just can't help wondering if i did the right thing. I know i'll get over these incisions. I know all the clear liquids/full liquids/soft foods, blah, blah, blah, will pass. But today, as i sit here, it seems like everything has changed, and I don't know if i like it. I can't eat anything my kids are eating, everywhere we would go on a saturday isn't an option because i don't want to deal with the food issue.

I know this strikes right at the heart of the reasons why i'm overweight--My relationship with food. But right now, its depressing.

I know i'm whining but, Help! Any words of encouragement out there??

You were apparently unhappy with your weight before....if you kept on eating like that, you'd still have been unhappy. I think you need to chill out and give yourself a chance to heal. I'm sure you had your own good personal reasons for getting the surgery; perhaps you might take a quiet moment or two and write them down and remember them. Life is more than eating junk food. I'm sure your kids would rather you play with them and be around a long time than have a big Mac with them. When you go to their weddings, will you be there for the love and joy, or for the cake?

LOL It will get better. Trust yourself.

I was banded on the 18th, so I'm right there with you. Seems every doctor is different, but I am on "mushies" right now, which includes cooked veggies. I just got back from lunch with my mother, sister, neice and daughter and it is different, however I was able to split a veggie plate with my daughter (who is 3 so understandibly if you children are older, this may not be a realistic idea). My real point is that this tool is supposed to help me make better eating choices and I am hoping it will also encourage my family to eat healthier as well. One of my reasons for having this done is that I didn't want my negative food choices to rub off on my children...I want to be a healthy eater. (But let me tell you, my husband is really trying me. He has ordered pizza four times since I started this with the pre-op diet and all. He even talked me into going to get it one time so I had to drive 20 minutes home smelling it! )

Hi. I had my surgery September 17, so I'm feeling the same thing. I am still at the full liquid diet stage, and am missing just being able to chew food. I've been battling depression today, because it's Saturday and I didn't have anywhere to go and nothing to take my mind off of not eating. But I know deep down that we will get past this. Food will stop being so important and our lives will be better. Just take one day at a time and trust in the decision you've made. Good luck!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
