Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm being so lazy at this point, but when I try to do anything for too long I just can't, I have no energy, is this normal or am I doing something wrong, I'm also having a hard time getting all the food I'm suppose to have down, I'm beginning to feel so depressed lately:frown::thumbup::frown::frown: Hugs Bobbie

Depending on your weight, and your age, I was tired the first two weeks. Now I have twice as much energy as I did. Just rest when you can and get up and walk every day for at least 15 minutes at a time, once or twice a day to start. It helps. Remember to have your Protein that will give you energy. Good luck

Hi, I was banded on 8/29 and I am having the same problem. I think what is causing us to be so tired and have no energy is the fact that we are not getting all of the proper nutrients(vitamins and protein). We have to make sure we take our Vitamins, and have at least the 60 grams of Protein a day. I have been making sure I take my Vitamin and do what I have to do and I am starting to get more energy. Dont be depressed just keep working at it, take your vitamins daily, make sure you have your protein and also drink your water!!! Good luck!!!

I had the same problem. I was banded on 9/10 and found myself sleeping 10-12 hours a night and took a 2 hour nap during the day. I saw my doc this week and he said my B-12 was very low. B-12 gives you energy and help metabolism. He recommend the sublingual B-12. I got mine at Wal-Mart on Thursday(2500mcgs). I took 2 and didn;t really notice a difference until yesterday, I took 2 again. Needless to say I feel very energized today and only slept 4 hours last night. Maybe 2 was too many??? I only took one today but I feel grreat!

What you are experiencing is totally normal. It is from the anesthesia. It takes at least 4 weeks to get it all out of your system. Hang in there, it will get better soon.

Have you tried to execise 15 minutes or so? I made myself do this and the more I did the better I felt. Don't worry about getting everything in until you get further along, I had alot of trouble in the begining getting the 8 oz. of Fluid in. Now it is much better. Everybody recovers at different rates after surgery. Hang in there. It will get better.

I'm almost 5 weeks out (come Monday) and I'm exhausted. I make myself get on the treadmill as much has possible (that's a bit hit and miss right now) and I'm taking all of my Vitamins, minerals and omegas. I think a big problem, for me, is my nutrition. My surgeon basically is requiring ONLY Protein for the first 3 months. I'm actually adding other stuff, especially the veggies, if I can. I still focus on the Protein but leave a little room for my veggies. I get tired REALLY easy. Part of it too is that I've never had major surgery before and didn't know what to expect and I think I'm pushing it too hard sometimes. Just some theories of mine! LOL!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
