Do u forget u have banded or is it always on you mind?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to know is the band always felt to you inside or do you forget you have it? Can you feel that the band is in you (I don't mean can you touch it) or do you remember it only when you eat? Does it seem like you don't have anything placed in you?

Thanks,

Rene

I'm six months post op and sometimes I do forget, especially at night, when I'm tossing and turning. When I was first banded I was so cautious to turn slowly, afraid I would twist something loose, now I rarely think about it, other than reminding myself I AM banded.

I am 6 weeks post-op and I don't think about it much in terms of being aware or physically feeling it. I think about it pretty frequently just in terms of not being hungry all the time or being amazed at how easy it has been to adjust (esp. because I was so so so nervous that I wouldn't be successful!) to life with the band.

I am more aware of my port than I am the band. The port is the sore part post-surgery! But mine healed up nicely (I'm 2 1/2 months post-op) and I like my little port. I don't feel my band, just the effects of it! It's there enough to remind me to slow down and chew well, but I feel like me all day now. It isn't wierd at all.

Hi,

I am new here, but I have had my band for 10 months now. When I first came home from the hospital I truly thought it all was a big hoax. You can't feel it at all, until you have restriction. then you can feel the effects of it, but not the band directly. I eat and live so much like a bandster that it is never far from my thoughts. But when I am being social, at church, etc. I am not thinking about my band. It is only when I go to drink or eat that I remember "oh yeah, I've got to eat this way."

hi

Ive been banded for 2 months today and I can physically feel the band mostly in the afternoon. If I sit down,I have to sit up straight or I get a feeling high between my breasts.Must say,as far as I have been able to research, it is just not the norm to feel the band.People actually say they sometimes forget they have the band until they eat to fast.

I am having other physical difficulties with the band as well so that might be related to me "feeling" the band.I've had one fill but lost all restriction when I started TOM and it never did return the way it was before....Am seeing the surgeon tomorrow.....

Right now I'm so new, I'm still obsessed with my band. But I really can't feel it, other than when I eat. I think over time, I'll forget.

I just got banded June 21st...Wow wow wow...what a feeling. The 1st 2 days were a litlle rough, however, I got over them pretty good. Today I actually went on a 1hr bike ride with my wife and child...Wow wow wow.

Like you, I have my band ALWAYS on my mind...for now I guess.

I have already dropped 8 lbs...293, down to 285. I feel great, not to "tired" out from the starvation, and I've gotten the OK to start "mushees". So I ate an egg this morning, had Veal puree for lunch and en Ensure for a snack. Hopefully this feeling keeps up, and my bad stays on my mind.

We'lle see.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
