I just finished my pulmonary function test. I thought I would just blow into this tube but I was there for about an hour and then had an chest x-ray. I didn't do very well on my pulmonary test. I do have asthma so I need to have an inhaler. I thought I was having trouble breathing because of my sleep apnea. I will be seeing my surgeon to discuss the surgery next Tuesday. I am already going to get started on the diet. I am ready for the change is my life to begin.

Yeah, the PFT does take about an hour. When I did mine, she said that my lungs were really inflated. My asthma is uncontrolled! I hate it. In fact, my chest is hurting as we speak. I kinda panicked because I thought it would hinder my approval because I couldn't breathe. The lady doing the test reassured me that the test is just to insure that if I do have an attack while under anasthesia, they would know that the breathing treatment would control it. I do remember when I was in high school though, my asthma wasn't as bad when I was active. I hope that this is the case as I start to lose weight and become more active. Good luck to you on your approval journey. :)

Change is good and banded life is great!!! You are one test closer to joing us on the band wagon. I would think asthma would improve with less weight and better physical fitness as well. Good luck with everything.

Wow, I was just wondering about asthma and being obese. Does obesity have anything to do with asthma? I have alway been active in school and even now, just not like I should anymore, but have started resently having problems with asthma, I think it's asthma any way. I have never had asthma before now, I just want to be really active again and hope this doesn't interfear, after I have the surgery. I will be having the surgery somewhere aroung March(hopefully, if aproved). I feel like ever since I deceided to get the wls everything is going wrong with me!!:bolt: I am ready for the new me!!!

I just had my PFT's as well and found out that I have a mild case of asthma. My Pulmonary doc and surgeon told me that once I lose weight that it will not be as severe. So I hope that will be the case for you too! Good luck with the Pre diet. I am on it now for my surgery the 17th of Dec. If I can encourage you or help you with shake recipes let me know. Be Blessed!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
