Hi Yall, one more Texan here!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Well I have been lurking around reading lots of interesting, and insightful posts. But, I have finally decided to go ahead and join the group. I am just north of Dallas, and am considering LapBand. I will be self pay, and am nearly finished saving up. I do have some questions though. :wink2: Does anyone know of a place to get fills near Dallas if I get the surgery done in Mexico? Thank you everyone for your help. I am so excited, and yet nervous at the same time!!:tongue2::)

TEXAS RULES! lol. I had my surgery done in Dallas and it was great. Not sure about where to get the fills tho. I don't know if all docs do that if you have the surgery done somewhere else?? Good luck!

Welcome! I'm north of Dallas too (in McKinney). Unfortunately, I don't know of any places to get fills, but I just wanted to say "HI!"

I Am being banded in Mexico in Nov. and had to find a FillDoc 120 miles from my home..People seem to post so many problems and when the Dr. soing your surgery is not your Dr after surgery is kind of scary. I am going to Mex. because I don't have 100 lbs to lose and can't get it done here. I am excited but so hope I don't have complications I read about...any regrets??

No regrets yet. But I've only been banded a month. I wish I was feeling restriction tho. I didn't know that I wouldn't feel restriction until I started on my fills. Guess I didn't ask enough questions. But so far so good!

I am from the Frisco area and I did my surgery with iVital. They might be a place to consider for fills. I was self pay and one price pay for all (surgery and fills). I highly recommend this organization though. They are located off of the Tollway & Chapel Hill Near WillowBend Mall.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
