Redhead1 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi I'm 3 months post op from my band and have only lost 32lbs. Only 2 since 2 fills in the last month. I was late getting my first fill and I have 5cc at present. I don't really fill alot of constriction when I eat. But I'm sticking to the low portions and correct foods. I'm very frustrated, cuz I pretty much am doing exactly what I'm suppose to do. Maybe I'm getting too much sodium, or not drinking as much Water, I don't know, but I'm kinda getting depressed about it. People tell me there are plateaus, but I hate to think I've hit one already. I'm getting another fill in 2 weeks. Anyone feel this way or have had similar experience would love to hear. Need some incouragement. I'm going on a need long awaited vacation with husband to Florida in November and was hoping to have lots more off. HELP! :tongue2: Redhead
Renob 1 Posted September 26, 2008 Time to start moving, start walking a few miles a day and maybe some gym time, it will help a bunch! Good luck.
bippie 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Red head everyone is different and I had my band on June 13 and I've lose about 20 pound but the 20 pounds gone. Just keep your head and and think every pound gone is good. I went for my 3rd fill on the 23 and from my last fill didn't lose a pound and that was a month ago but I still feel great and look great with the 20 pounds gone so keep doing what you are doing.:tongue2: Are you working out bippie
sneal 0 Posted September 26, 2008 the healthy weightloss with the band is 1-2 lbs a weeks. sounds like your right on track. don't get so down on yourself. Your already off to a great start!!!:tongue2:
auntlucy 22 Posted September 26, 2008 Plateaus are very normal! I've hit a couple myself. Just keep doing what you are doing and increase your exercise if possible and it will start coming off again. I just had my 3rd fill 1 1/2 weeks ago, and that has made a huge difference. Hang in there! You are doing fantastic...would you have lost 32 lbs in 3 months without the band? I know we all want to wake up one morning and magically be at our goal weight, but it just doesn't work that way. It requires a lot of work, dedication, and perseverance. IM_LORI 0 Posted September 26, 2008 3 months post op? and you've "ONLY" lost 32 pounds? Are you NUTS! haha Do you know how many people would kill to do that? That's consistently just a hair over 2 pounds a week! My god anymore than that wouldn't be good on a long term basis. A lot of people lose NOTHING or even GAIN until they hit that magic fill level. I"m 11 months out and I'd be doing the hokey-pokey if I could lose 2 pounds a week. You expected more? This is to assist weight loss. It doesn't wave a magic wand and just magically disappear. Girl, you are doing AMAZING! And when in your life have you ever been able to lose 2 pounds a week, for 12 weeks straight? I'm guessing never or you wouldn't have gotten your band in the first place. You are on a roll, be happy, keep going, and don't stop whatever your doing until you are 100% at your goal. You may see some people drop 5/week, but they are typicallyl in the 350+ pound range. At a lower BMI your going to lose at a more normal rate, more like yourself. Keep going and be HAPPY!
Redhead1 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks so much to all for the encouragement, just what I need this morning. I have been walking 3-5 times a week since week 3 30-60minutes a time. Just barely started doing sit ups, was kinda scared cuz I could fill my port move when I did them. Maybe I just need to step up exercising. Now that it is cooler at night it is easier, but sometimes not enough hours in the day. I do feel better than I did before band, I have much more energy. Thanks again for encouragement. Redhead RedHead!!! You are doing great!!! 32pds lost, thats awesome! Keep up the good work, and you have been walking everyday, then its time to switch things up a bit. You body adapts to diet and exercising.. So you have to keep your body guessing. Try Yoga, different aurobics like swimming, biking or something like that. Weight training helps too. More muscle you build the more cals you burn. And dont worry girls dont get blucky when we weight lift, you just get lean looking and it helps with skin returning to normal. You can do this. Monday- 10 mins of yoga and then 20 mins of fast walking Tuesday- 30mins of upper body weight training Wednessday- 10mins of yoga and 20 mins of any aurobics ThursdAY- 30mins of lower body weight training Friday-10mins of yoga- 20mins of walking Saturday-30mins of upper body weight training Sunday- Take off give your body time to rest, be lazy!!! :wink2: If you do that for 2 weeks I will promise you, you will lose weight maybe even a tad faster. But dont always trust the scale, the scale while working out, only tell part of the truth. Muscle weighs more then fat and takes less space. So measure your inches too! If you wonder where I get the excercise plan, Body-for-LIFE Good luck! :tongue2:
crazycatlady 0 Posted September 26, 2008 If you think you're slow...I've lost only 15 lbs since May 8 surgery date! AND I work out 5-6 times a week for 1 1/2 hrs. I have 7.02cc in a 10cc band & have good restriction most times. For some reason I can still eat more than I think I should be able to & my hunger isn't satisfied like some I've read about on this site with a small amt. probably due to the working out thing makes me hungry all the time. The only reason I'm slimmer inches-wise is because of my weight training/cardio. I could have done this without the band & used the 14K to hire a personal trainer/cook. So frustration is my best friend these days. I wish I could offer you more positive feedback, sorry.
bandfun4me 0 Posted September 26, 2008 (edited) I would not get frustrated. Give your body time to adjust. I was banded in jan 08 and have lost 60 lbs, I walk 2x /day gym 3-4 x week. I had weight loss every month but this last one, month 8. So I got another fill, got another coming up next week, lost only 2lbs this month. very slow the further you get down the road. It seemed as if I hit a plateu about every 10-15 lbs for a week or so. We had a support mtg on this topic, advise was to use the FITT technique. Change only one of these to break that plateau (Frequency, Intensity, Type or Time). I may only lose 1 lb per week, but my body is changing still every day it seems, everything fits differently each time I get dressed. It is wonderful. The inside stuff has to change as well. So it all has to catch up together as well. Learn to use the band to your advantage and don't work around it. The tighter you can tolerate the better, Hey that is what I signed up for. If I put in too much food, it should punish me, I have to learn to do the right thing , to make "good food choices". If we don't we will end up dissatisfied or worse ,where we were to began. This is a lifetime journey. relax and try to enjoy. I was banded in Pinehurst NC. Whoo hoo! No regrets!! Keep up the good work and don't be hard on your self. coppercorrie 0 Posted September 26, 2008 I've read that a lap band patient should expect to loose about half their intended weight loss in the first year so you are half way there in only 90 days. So don't beat yourself up. I've been impatient to see more progress myself but it took along time to get into this condition, it will take a little time for me to get back out of it.
