Hi from Arizona

You both probably already thought of this but unless you plan to go back to TJ for fills and if you have pains, port flips, etc....make SURE you have aftercare lined up in the states. That's a real problem for people who have work done in another city or out of the country....

A lot of Arizona people who go to Mexico go to Mexicali for fills as it is closer.

My husband and I, who are outside of Surprise, were banded almost a year ago in TJ, but we are retired and have the time to drive back there for fills. You can do it in a day--drive there, get your fill, and drive back--but it's a long day. Perfectly doable, though. And it isn't a problem at all. We love our doctor and his clinic, and wouldn't have gone anywhere else. In fact, the more I read this forum and see all the problems and ways that US surgeons seem to do things, I am ecstatic I didn't go anywhere else.

I also went to TJ with Dr Corvala in Hospital Angeles. It was a good experience and I found a local doctor who does fills and aftercare for me.

However, I did travel back there for my first fill which was great because they did it under flouro.

I am not sure if you are going to Hospital Angeles or elsewhere . . . but if it is the same place, you can PM me and I will tell you all about my experiences.

Yes we are scheduled with Dr Corvala. Looks like a good Doctor. We also met with Dr Simpson also but the cost is a huge difference. But the after care is a big issue-I have talked to fillusa and they will do fills=as well as some others.

Hi! I live in Arizona as well. I'm scheduled for October 1, also in TJ Mexico. I'm meeting up with Dr. Lopez. I'm extremely nervous as well!!

Good Luck! Let me know how things go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
