Gadumplin -

Glad to see a post from someone close to my age!!! Part of me thinks I'm too old to worry about this, but the other part says "NO WAY" - you've got years to go yet baby, so make 'em healthy.

Yeah, I've seen some boot camps - you are fearless, woman!!! Double thumbs up to you!!!!!!! :smile2:

Congratulations Gadumplin. What an accomplishment!!

I have only been walking so far. But, I have gone from being winded walking to the car to walking daily. My goal is 7000 steps a day and my nsv was on Wednesday of this week when my step count was 10625. Quite a victory for me. By the way, I just turned 59 so we can do it.

You are doing great ..... As I lose weight I have a desire to do different things. In the beginning walking was all I did and then I decided to join a gym and take some classes and that lead to the boot camp. You too will have doors open as you travel this journey. Hold on its an awesome ride!! Keep up the good work!

Gadumplin,

You are doing great. I was banded 3 days after you. Your success makes me think I can do it too. The exercise part that is. I have been on the lazy side and have not embraced exercise. But I know that losing weight is one part of a healthy lifestyle, I gotta et my ass in gear. Your story motivates me.

Your doing great....do you realize you are 7 pounds away from one half of your weight loss???? You are gonna make it and I agree the exercise is the hardest to do but I know it makes a big difference in the way that I look, feel and lose!! So start out slow and make it fun with some personal goals that will change along the way. And I will see you at goal!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
