?? for those who had surgery beginin go Sept

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Sept 4th. At surgery I was right at 260/263. During the last 2 weeks I lost 5 pounds, down to 255. Then all of a sudden this week, no matter what I do, I keep gaining. I am back up to 259.

I don't have my 1st fill until Oct 9th.

How is everyone else doing? How is your weight loss going.

I don't fill up very fast. I would say that I am eating only about 1/3 less than I did before the surgery. However, I am not eating anything between meals. I don't really get hungry. I am not eating any sweets. I have a slim fast for Breakfast. My other meals, I try to eat things not very fattening.

bloom, I was banded the same day as you. I'm still losing, but it has slowed down, to probably a normal level. I'm not drinking any of my meals, unless I'm in a big rush. I'm also getting on my elliptical, but not using the arms and taking it slower than I did pre-band for 40 mins in the morning, and taking a three mile walk in the evening. (hopefully after my doctor's appt next week, I'll be OKed to increase my exercise). I'm watching every carb, to make sure the ones I'm getting are from healthy foods. I also still have restriction from the surgery, so I'm not famished, which is very helpful in not going overboard at meal time. I am sticking to 1/2 c meals, heavy on Protein, 3 times per day plus a snack. I'm keeping my Snacks healthy. For instance, today, I'm having NF cottage cheese with Tomato. Yesterday, I had a peach. I'm also drinking a ton of no-cal liquids (ice Water, crystal lite, etc). I anticipate losing my restriction, and maybe having a stall in my weight loss, but after fills, I know I'll kick it back up.

I know it's such an uphill battle, bloom, but we're going to make it. From everything I've read, it's not until we get fills, that we really get the advantage from our bands. Hang in there.

I just got a fill when I went for my checkup on Tuesday. He said I was a little early but he was pleased with my progress. I have lost pretty cosistantly since surgery.

I do exercise everyday for about 40 minutes and I still drink my Protein Shakes in between meals IF I get hungry.

Don't for get to drink your Water and get some exercise. You should be able to move aroung a little easier now...

How is your energy level? How do you feel? Pain or no pain?

Hey hun,

my weight has also come to a stand still, i lost 12lbs pre op and 4lbs week after the op,since then i have stayed the same. I have a fill booked for oct 11th so hopefully that will get things moving. It is quite normal for people to pt on weight untill they start getting fills, so keep doing ur thand hun with the excercise, the weight will follow I know its frustrating...but the weight WILL come off. Try not to focus on teh scales to much (like me, or like i used to do lol)

let me know how you get on xxx

Glad to hear y'all are experiencing the slow down. I lost steadily on the pre-op and then right after surgery. Now my body has caught up to the change or something. I am still on mushies so I know I am not eating a lot calories. Maybe our bodies are still knitting together. My exercise is limited to the pain from being overweight. In another week I can return to the pool where I can walk and exercise almost pain free. This surgery was no magic bullet. We did not get heavy in a month. We will not get thinner in the same time. We did this to help us change our lives and we have the rest of them to use this wonderful tool as an aid to do what we had a hard time doing without it. Let's encourage, help, and face all our tomorrows with confidence knowing we are going to be smaller and smaller. God bless all of you!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
