Actually you have a choice of two locations. One is Parker Adventist (fairly new facility) and Aurora Medical Center, this hospital is attached to the same building that his offices are in.

I agree, the office staff at ColoradoRockies is awesome and absolutely patient! I was originally scheduled there for 10/29 - had to cancel when I couldn't find local fills and couldn't honestly commit myself to going back & forth for fills.

Once you speak with his coordinator, you'll be convinced you are at the right place. There is even a whole group of folks on these forums who to to him and return for all fills.

Good Luck & Continued Success to You!

Hi Talley:

Thanks so much for sharing your encouraging words. i'm thinking of bribing my neice to take a trip with me to Colorado. So glad to hear you are doing so well. I just ate a huge I mean huge bag of kettle pop corn...geez i was doing so well. Eating healthy for the past month. Now I am pmsing and that is danger for me. I am so afraid of being Type II diabetic....I was so hungry at dinnner and wasn't hungry during the day...seems like I always make up for it. I'm tninking of starting a poll to see if the band helps with binge or addictive eating patterns....anywho feeeling defeating right now:sad: take care,

Mine was $15,000 but I too chose a facility very close - fill center is on an adjacent property to my work. I really liked my surgeon but once fills are started I go to a surgery center and am filled by a nurse practicioner who does fills all day so I feel comfortable with her expertise.

My cost also includes 1 year of fills and support groups etc. I could have gone to Dallas, an hour away, for $9999 but having had fills I now know distance could have been really problematic.

The cost of initial surgery is only part of it-i would opt for the most convenient. Hope this helps a little.

I paid 10,000 for my band and had it done about 5 min from my house.

Dr. Tersigini keeps his prices low so that people can afford to have lap band surgery.

He had to raise his prices to 12, 500 because the surgery center raised the cost of the operating room. He is a center of excellence and has the lowest complication rate in the Pacific Northwest.

I was all set to go to Dr. K in Colorado until I started having a problem finding a local fill doctor. I cancelled that and signed up to have it here in Chicago by Dr. Cahill for $16,200 - financing fell through.

Now, I'm all set with different financing - am scheduled 4 hrs away at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI for $10,700.

Hi Tally, one more question herer regarding Dr. K in colorado. In an e-mail they stated that I can not leave after surgery on my own and I would need to be supervised for the 24 hours after anethesia. Have I got this wrong I am assuming that the surgery is done and price included an overnight hospital stay? thanks

The surgery is done on an outpatient basis so there is no overnight hospital stay. I honestly do not feel I needed a night inthe hospital. You cannot drive yourself home since you will be under anesthesia and you would need someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours. My husband came with me and I am so glad he was there. It is a little difficult to get up and down every time you need soemthing. Dr. K told us that he only uses the Crown Point surgery Center because they were willing to make a deal with him in order to keep the cost of the surgery affordable for his patients.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
