TLCEdge Self Pay: How long from consult to surgery?

Recommended Posts

Well it turns out that I'm going to be using TLCEdge and doing self pay. I won't be financially ready to lay out the money until mid January however, so I'm wondering how long beforehand to start the overall process? Also, at what point did you actually have to pay? Two weeks out, that day, etc? :girl_hug:

Thank you!!

I was self pay with JourneyLite. I had my surgery basically two weeks after my initial consultation with my doctor. I paid the day before my surgery.

It depends on the place. I had to pay 1 week before surgery. See if the amount you need to pay includes all the testing etc. If not, check to see how long the test results are valid, you can start doing all the tests and stuff and get them out of the way... Mine were good for 6 months, but I had all my tests done the first week and paid when I went for my last test and scheduled my surgery for 1 week later. It depends on availability too. I know one other girl that got her date in December and she was self-pay. I don't recall where she's from though. I know all my doctor and his associates for the testing were all cash or cashier check only, so if they aren't included in the cost.. It gives you time to plan your appointments when you have money.

I was self pay also. It took 4 1/2 months from seminar to surgery. The doctor was hard to get into (5 weeks after seminar) and the pulmonologist (required testing) was another 5 weeks to get in to. After that, surgery was scheduled a month after I had the testing completed. It was a good time to think about things. Good Luck!

I was self pay also. My consult was mid May, they wanted to schedule surgery about 3 weeks, out but I waited until the first of July. I had to pay at least 2 weeks from surgery date.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
