First Fill Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I have not really lost any weight yet.....I feel very little restriction right now. Fingers crossed that my fill tomorrow will help. I have to drive 2 hrs to get it and since I am a full time working single mom it is tough to get there. I am hopeing they will lean on the generous v conservative side on the fill. TBD! PS - My surgery was 8/24 and I quickly lost 10 lbs then gained back 6 so....nothing much happening yet. This site encourages me to be patient which is helpful.

Hi AVM,

Congratulations on your Lapband.

My best advice is to keep getting your fills until you reach your sweet spot. I have a 14cc band and have 9.5cc and PERFECT restriction. I get full on 4-5 bites now. I LOVE IT. I've lost 6 lbs now in 6 days now. I'm getting all of my Protein, actually eating more often, just not as much.

The lapband is a tool. Use the tool. Keep getting your fills, which are very important to get to restriction.

Best of luck!

Cherlita

Hi - I go for my first fill today too. I have minimal restriction and look forward to my fill. Since my band on 8/15 I lost 24 lbs. I have been dieting... I have kept a very low carb, high Protein and treadmill every day for a half hour. Mornings and lunch is fine but I am very hungry when I get home after work. I eat more protein than recommended. Evenings are my downfall. Unfortunately, we all need to work at this, the band isn't a magic wand.. Keep working hard...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
