TheWatcher 1 Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) ok i have to comment since my boy plain chimed in:sifone:... why is everything sexism... now admittedly i haven't read the whole thread but cmon this is where PC has gone wrong... that was a harmless statement at that ... im glad you could see through it and see the compliment within... but cmon its a boring workplace where a person cant make a comment on another person... think about it its not like he walked in and said the skirt looks good... See that's sexist... she dresses up the place that's a compliment pure and simple. Let the retaliation retorts commence!!:smile2: Edited September 25, 2008 by TheWatcher
Minxz 0 Posted September 25, 2008 I judge sexism more by whats said than how its said...
plain 12 Posted September 26, 2008 I do get the whole sexism thing, though....Maybe I did get my current job with my rugged good looks and Greek-godlike body, but I still want to be admired for my rapier-like wit and dedication to the organization. Also, I have a gift for exaggeration (some purists call it lying).

Nanook 2 Posted September 26, 2008 I suppose since it was the client it was ok but if it had been an associate they probably could have been sued. I know a lot of places in the northeast are like that. In my day (when I was a cute young thang) it would have felt uncomfortable so maybe it's the part of the country you're from. Sorry don't mean to start a war of sorts Nancy!
TheWatcher 1 Posted September 26, 2008 Thank God i work in IT... most IT workers dont know the meaning of sexism... shoot the last woman i worked for made me feel like a piece of meat at the market....ahhh memories:Banane20:
Nanook 2 Posted September 26, 2008 It might be different if you work for the Fed government, they usually have seminars on what not to do and what not to say to another employee.

Now if I felt threatened that would be a different matter completely. This world has become completely too PC - say what you mean and mean what you say...enough BS and playing nice. Enough of my serious note....love the dancing banana...now that is definately not PC...LOL
Nanook 2 Posted September 26, 2008 I live in a very PC world, good and bad. I think too many people have sued and companies are trying to protect their asses basically. If you don't care that's all that matters, it gave you the lift you needed so "you go girl"!:smile2:

Enough of my serious note....love the dancing banana...now that is definately not PC...LOL I agree with you about people being too PC. Thankfully (or regretfully) I work with nothing but men. They tend to say what they want, when they want. At times, they forget that I am a woman with some of the stuff they talk about. It is usually funny stuff about their wives or girlfriends. I would hate for them (or myself) to constantly feel like they have to watch every word they say. That leads to such a stressful time for everyone.
Guest Leslie2Lose Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks Nanook. My work is pretty PC too. I worked for the government at a time and my husband does now. It was ridiculous the extent they took to cover their butts...I know what you mean. I still don't like it though...nothing I can do about it. Se La Vie. Minxz 0 Posted September 26, 2008 PC is supposed to protect people from being judged based on their gender and/or race. Unfortunately if someone is prejudice or truly sexixt (feeling women or minorities are inferior) Political correctness is just a coat of white paint over something rotten. For people who are not prejudice it tends to stilt the conversation and make things uncomfortable as they are always wondering if they crossed the line. PCness doesn’t allow much room for a sense of humor.
