Band sizes? (cc's)

Recommended Posts

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place but...I know most surgeons will let you choose which kind of band they put in but can we also have a say in how big of a band ( cc size) we can have and is there a difference in weight loss as far as that goes? I read most people have 10cc bands but I have read that a few people have 14cc bands. Does anyone know why there would be different sizes? I'm guessing a 14 cc band would allow for more fills so I figure that means that the weight loss might not slow as quickly as it would with a 10 cc band? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I know hardly anything about this stuff.

Thanks in advance!:girl_hug:

At a pre-op teaching class yesterday we were told that the surgeon decides smaller or larger based on height only. That may only be my group, though.

my surgeon told me he was going to give me the Realize band but for some reason at the time of surgery he decided to give me the 10cc Lap band. he said he doesn't know which band he'll use until he can see the stomach.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
