partyrx2002 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Hello, my name is Danette and I am still waiting to be approved by insurance. I am 35 y/o and I have been dieting since I was ten years old. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me. I am ready for a change in my life that is drastic or else I feel I won't live to see my daughter grow up. Besides the health problems that are currently building, my self esteem is at its all time low. I have already begun small changes in everyday routines such as reading vs. watching tv, exercising (swimming)with my daughter, and knowing (hoping) food won't rule my life anymore. I am ready for this surgery and look forward to telling you guys that I am a post-op patient and join the journey you are taking.

Caramia412 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Salutations..... Today's my first day of posting... I've been referring to the forum for quite some time and find it to be extremely informative. I'm on my way to be banded....My first support meeting is October 15th and I've already been pre-approved by my insurance. Has anyone here had surgery in Staten Island??? I was just inquiring because I wanted to get a better idea about the time frame.. Counting down to my surgery date. Any information would be greatly appreciated. murfnik 0 Posted September 26, 2008 In Austin, too. Just checking this whole lap-bandy thing out. My OB-GYN suggested it some time ago and I was like...eehhhh...don't think so. But a friend of mine had it and seems to be doing very well. I was thin as a child, teen, young woman...didn't really start to put on weight until my late 30s. Had a baby at 45 and everything went down hill from there! I know one thing, I do not want to leave the thing in there for the rest of my life. But my BMI is 36.6 and I'm 80-100 lbs overweight, depending on whose chart you use.:smile2:
KayVee 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Re Murnik - if you take it out, you'll be back to eating more again and the whole purpose is defeated. I've not been banded yet, but I've been to two seminars and I'm working through the insurance process and one of the first things I've learned is you have got to have your head in the right place before going in. I'm thinking you'll either change your mind about leaving it in, or decide this is not for you. kayvee

And I have a real thing about alien "things" inside me :wink2: I already have microscopic polyvinyl beads from a not-so-successful attempt to get rid of uterine fybroids in my uterine blood vessels and four titanium screws in one foot. I know the port will drive me absolutely nuts...so, maybe you're right, might not be for me. I'm fairly certain that once I get down to a weight where I can move, things don't hurt when I work out, my stamina is higher, and I eat sanely and sensibly (as I know how to do), that it wouldn't be needed any more. As someone on the forum said, it's a tool to accomplish a job; and sometimes when the job is finished you no longer need the tool. If I'd been heavy all my life, I'd agree with you, or if I scarfed down 10 KKs (Krispy Kremes) in one sitting, maybe so. I'm meeting with them on Tuesday, so we'll see.:tongue2:
