jojoyoung 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Hi my name is jo, and i'm awaiting my op at the end of oct 08 in brussels. In 1998 I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease and at the time was very poorly, but fortunately I have not had any symptoms since and have not taken any medication for a number of years and feel well. This morning I was reading a leaflet about gastric bands and it specifically stated that anyone with Crohns should not be fiited with a band. I have informed the clinic about my condition and they say its ok but i,m nervous now instead of being very excited. what should I do? :rolleyes2:
JamieNP 20 Posted September 24, 2008 Welcome! Just make sure you talk with your surgeon and get educated on all of the complications. I can see why bypass would not be a choice for you, but lapband..I don't know. Since Crohn's can affect the entire digestive system, it may be contraindicated. kimaly 57 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Hi! Just wanted to welcome you. I don't know anything about crohns, but if your worried do some research on line and get a second opinion. Good luck Edited September 24, 2008 by kimaly
JamieNP 20 Posted September 24, 2008 There are several people here that have crohn's and have been banded. Type in "crohn's" in the search box and you should be able to find the threads.
