Recommended Posts

Just wanted to know when you got your band how long did you stay out of work? On my job i have the option to take a LOA or some vacation time. I really wanted to just to a couple of days off because no one knows at my job im doing this, but i really dont know how i would feel after surgery. And the funny thing is if i take a LAO ill be out for about 3weeks :laugh:can you imangine leavin work at one size and then returnin two sizes smaller..LMAO Any way if some one can give me some advisethat would be SUPER:wub: I sit all day so there's not that much movement, i dont see me hurtin my port. Well my paper work will go in next week some time after the doctor finishes up all his notes. :rolleyes2:

Thanks

haha, first of all you won't be two sizes smaller in 3 weeks. :rolleyes2: maybe after two months...

also, i had this question as well when i was working out my days off once i made my surgery date. the younger you are, the quicker you bounce back - obviously. i read a lot of people's opinions on this site and came to the conclusion that for an office setting in which you sit at a desk and don't have to do a lot of walking around (which is my situation), one week from the date of surgery is probably long enough. i am having surgery on a weds and going back to work the following thurs. i have a feeling i'll be ready to go sooner than that, but just to be on the safe side, i have the option of staying out longer if i need it. if you take a LOA then you'll definitely have time to heal and feel better, but you'll also probably be bored to tears after a week and be begging for something to do - i know i would! an office setting with a desk job won't be very stressful, so i think you should be fine to go back after a week. but hey, i'm not a doctor, and everyone is different!

now watch, i'm talking all big and bad that i'll be able to go back within a week - i'll probably be crying like a baby begging someone to put me out of my misery and be out of work a month! :sneaky: that would just be my luck. then my husband could really say I TOLD YOU SO!

Hi! I was banded last Friday morning (Sept 19) and I took Friday/Monday off...I worked a half day yesterday and am back fulltime today. Of course I work at a desk/computer so I can get away with it...plus...I am just good at recovery after a surgery. So I was resting for....4.5 days. :rolleyes2:

I took off a week and I felt fine. If you do office work then you will be fine to go back after a few days. It would be good to have your surgury on like a Wed. and just take 3 days off and then have the weekend to. I had to go back to the doctor after one week to have my staples taken out.

I am a teacher and did my surgery the week before our holiday break. I had 3 weeks before seeing my lovely kiddos again. I am sure glad I had that much time, but I have a fairly active job. I have a friend who is nail tech and only took one week off and was wishing she took 2 off. So there are ya! Best wishes!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
