I was banded on Sept. 5, and I am in the same boat. My doct said for me to eat more Protein, like fish, and this has helped. Surviving hurrican IKE has been the BIG problem. 11 days so far w/ out power, and it is very hard to make the right choices on food when there is not much of a selection....Thankfully my doc. starts his patients out on mushies after a two day liquid diet.... I have read that once we get our first fill, the hunger pains will subside...

Yes it's completely normal. You really don't have restriction at this point. Most of the food you've been eating, is just going straight to the lower stomach.

Just make sure you are drinking a lot of Water and get your Protein in... the weight loss will slow or pause when you eat mushies/solids because of this... so don't worry... all this is normal. Focus on chew, chew, chew.. because you will more than likely forget, especially if you're really hungry... it's always that first bite that gets you! LOL! You go through this transition diet to help you develop good habits and to heal, don't worry about losing at this point. Enjoy it now!

Caren, sorry to hear about Ike causing you to be without power. We didn't even get a drop of rain here! My mom who lives in Ohio got her power on last night after 8 days without it from Ike when it passed through there... she said she's gained 5 pounds at least from eating out.

She said that they were even running out of things at some of the restaurants... I hope everything goes well for you.

Hi, I got my band on Sept, 4th, and I am at the second stage of post op. My doc has me on soft foods like soft fruits and veggies and creamy Soups. I see you mention that your doc told you too eat fish after a two day liquid diet, I thought we couldn't eat meats yet untill the 4th week? I have heard so many different post op diet requirements, I guess it depends on the doc. I have been craving for fish which is my favorite and I cooked fish last night for my family but was scared to eat a piece. Is fish safe to digest and eat in my 3rd week banded?

Hi every one just introducing myself. I hope im on the right thread. I got banded on 09/04/08 and so far has lost at least 12 pounds. I feel better since surgery but still have pain at my port area. I am still on medical leave from work because my doc does not want me to lift over 10 pounds yet. I feel like a wimp hearing every one saying they have mostly no pain after surgery and was able to return to work a day or two after. My job require me to lift up to 50lbs and Im not able to right now. Is the one's who went back to work in a day or two, work in an office or have light job requirements? :rolleyes2:

Good morning, I have had the band five years, have lost 100 lbs but have gained 35 back. :rolleyes2: I have not had a fill this year, suffering with acid reflux, especially at night. My throat is hurting now, so I'm getting that checked out. You all stay positive, it takes time, it's not an overnight thing.... I'm glad I did it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
