Hey Guys!!

Wow! This is exactly what I have been looking for. I'm so tired of talking to women about the band, I have been looking for a group of men to share stuff with. I'm new here just got my band on Aug 12, 2008 and have lost 44lbs. I get my first fill tomorrow and was wondering how it effected you all eating red meat? Have any of you tried eating deer meat? Great to be here, hope to get to meet some of you all.

ive had ground deer meat (sometime between first and second fill), but that and a little bit of tender brisket is the only red meat ive had since my surgery (6/20/08). neither seemed to bother me.

Um, yeah, OK.

I'll have an extra bite of wild boar sausage in your name tonight.

And remember, vegetables are what food eats.

I've had dove post band. It was a little dry (fried), so I had to chew really well and eat very slowly. Oh, and try and avoid swallowing any shot, lol.

Finally gotmy consult appointment on November 20th. Were you all as impatient as I am about this whole process? I took a long time to make up my mind and now that it is made up I would just as soon as it would be done tomorrow.

I was also very impatient. But I will say, looking back I'm glad I had the time it took to get ready for the surgery-I needed the time to really be ready. Keep in mind-you've got the rest of your life-a few months won't make a huge difference. But it is hard to wait.

I'm having my first fill tomorrow, so I'm excited to see if I start to feel some restriction!

I understand what your feeling my company is changing my insurance on 1/1/09 and I'm concerned that the current company will either put me off till after then or if I get started on the road to approval but don't get my surgery till after 1/1 that the new company will start the process over. Ii know it will be a long road but I'd rather get the surgery part over with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
