Call Roto Rooter I'm stuck!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Coach, I'm new to this site...I was banded in April 07...lost 75 pounds then plateaued. Had a fill 2 weeks ago and now I am having trouble in the morning with just water! I tried a liquid drink, that's not working...then Water and even small sips are causing lots of urping! Can't really call it burping. Do you have any tips on helping me get "unstuck" in the morning?

Hi JL,

Mornings are tricky, because all of us are tight. Try drinking something that is warm and maybe that will help loosen up your esophagus.

If you are still experiencing problems in the morning, contact your surgeon and let him/her know what you are experiencing.

Congratulations on your weight loss, you are doing awesome!!

Hi, I was banded June 18, 2007 and have lost 115 lbs. I've been having problem with throwing up and an uncomfortable feeling in my esophagus. I went for an x-ray and the doc said that the band had slipped up. This is very unusual he said. He said he thinks I need to have the band removed and repositioned and may have to take it out if the stomach is damaged too much. I have mixed emotions about this. Have been trying to keep out of surgery. Been having acid reflux and heartburn but taking medicine for this. Has anyone heard of this are going through the same thing?? Please Help!!

Did you have this problem before the band? Or did this develop after?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
