Gall Bladder Attack?

Recommended Posts

Hiya!!

This past Saturday I thought I needed to be put of of my misery. The only thing I think it could be was a gall bladder attack. It was on the right side of my chest and went through to my back I am wondering if anyone else has exprienced the pain and can you describe it? I wanted to go to the ER, but since we are dealing with the after effects of Hurricane IKE I didn't want to be a nuisance if it was nothing. The pain lasted about 2 hours and the following day I was a little sore.

Thanks a bunch!!

JJ

Pain from gallbladder attack is usually from just under your right rib cage and feels like it goes straight through into the back. Pain is caused when the bile duct is blocked by a stone or sludge in the Gb and bile builds up. Pain is relieved when whats blocking the duct moves or is passed through the duct...It often occurs a few hrs after eating fatty foods (fried food). You should see your doctor to be evaluated because other medical problems can cause the same symptoms.

I have had my gallbladder out . It seems some people expereince different attack symtpoms , The most common is some people feel it more in their chest. Mine felt like Labor pains or contractions and radiated to my back.

Did you eat anything greasy or lots of veggies ?

I would call your doc. Because if it is your gallbladder which is very likely if your recently banded and lost weight, eventually the attacks get more frequent .

sounds like the nightmare I just lived the past 7 months. I just had my gall bladder out last month. some days felt like constant pressure, LOTS Of pressure up under my ribs, where it would be hard to breath. Some days felt like a stick was wedged inside me under my ribs. Other days felt like a knife was inserted under my right ribs, and went into my back, and made it nearly impossible to breath. Then I'd be sore for several days afterwards. Classic gall bladder. Take that puppy OUT and life will be good again.

I had a gallbladder attack once it was years ago and I am surprised that I still have my gallbladder...none of the other females in my family do.

My surgeon told me that it is a very high possiblity that if you still have your gall bladder and get LB surgery, that you will need to have it removed because rapid weight loss can cause gall bladder disease.

I remember when I went to the emergency room with my attack, the doctor diagnosed it by having me lie on my back, he pressed his finger tips firmly into my abdomen just below my right ribs (kinda hooked his fingers under my ribcage) then told me to take a deep breath. I felt a shooting pain that caught my breath and he said right away "It's your gallbladder" He gave me something to drink and it took the pain away almost immediately. I have had several slight attacks over the years since but nothing nearly as bad as that one. Now when I feel that pain, I lie on my back and check it myself. That may be something you want to try if you feel the pain again. Surprisingly, I have not had any gall bladder pain since my surgery (yet, anyway!)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
