How much weight loss pre fill is normal?

Recommended Posts

Quick few questions, surgery date was 9/2.

As of this morning I am down 29LBS. Is that normal? Am I losing too fast?

Also is it normal to still feel restriction as this point?

Still on mushies and I limit my self to 1/2 cup at a meal which is more than enough, however when eating Soup I feel I could eat more?

One last question, all liquids seem to go down well with the exception of skim milk, if I drink more that 4 ounces in 30 minutes I feel uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance for you responses.

I also had surgery on 9/2. How awesome is that? I feel really great and I am walking and biking a lot already. I have lost 27 lbs. So we are close to the same. I too feel very full after eating only a very small amount and am very amazed at how full I get after such a little bit. Keep in touch. Its great to have someone that had surgery the exact same day I did!!!

Quick few questions, surgery date was 9/2.

As of this morning I am down 29LBS. Is that normal? Am I losing too fast? Yes, that seems fast, but not alarming. Depends on what your starting weight was, too. "Normal" is about 12-20#, I think. Don't worry, it will slow down soon enough!

Also is it normal to still feel restriction as this point? Yes. It will subside soon and you will feel hunger again.

Still on mushies and I limit my self to 1/2 cup at a meal which is more than enough, however when eating Soup I feel I could eat more? Right....soup will go thru the band quickly. Mushies will sit there a while.

One last question, all liquids seem to go down well with the exception of skim milk, if I drink more that 4 ounces in 30 minutes I feel uncomfortable. You may have a bit of lactose intolerance...may want to look that up.

Thanks in advance for you responses.

Okay now I feel like a complete failure! I only lost 15lbs and I too had surgery on 9/02/08. Today is 3 weeks later and I havn't lost any weight since I weighed last week Tuesday. My surgeon told me to push past the mushy stage and try to eat solid Proteins until I get that stuffed feeling - is this why my weight loss has stopped? I don't have a fill scheduled until 4 weeks from now and if I remain stagnant at this weight I will die!

Now the solid Proteins (chicken, eggs, etc.) really are hard to take in and I've had a few episodes of PBing afterwards. I've only done this new eating since my post op visit on 9/11/08 - but I think I had better go bacdk to liquids & mushy foods - I need to lose more weight before the fill. Can anyone help me????

What foods are okay on the mushy food list?

eggs in any form give many people problems...might want to stay away from those. Solid foods should not be too difficult for you if your are taking teeny tiny bites, about the size of a pencil eraser...and CHEW!

Look at the food section for ideas on mushy foods....and your doctor should have given you a list as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
