Eating with the Other End of the Spoon

Recommended Posts

So I have a new trick - I'm spooning up my dinner ( about a half a cup serving of cheese lasagna and milk puree smoothed out on a small plate) with the other end of my spoon, which is about a centimeter in width. It's making my dinner last much longer and hopefully go down much better.

QatarPhil made a remark which has stayed with me for the last couple of days:

"I’m surprised how little food I need to maintain my weight or even make small gains. My portions seem miniscule and I leave food uneaten. Our bodies are efficient and need so little food, aren’t they?"

And I say, Amen, Brother Phil. If the Lapband has taught me anything, it is that I ate a lot more food than I needed. True, the lack of hunger I feel now is in part due to the effects of the Lapband itself, but my shrunken stomach and my newly learned habits and the emotional stability that the weight loss has brought have all contributed to being able to accept smaller portions and to being on the lookout for new ways to redefine that undefinable word, "enough". Finally, at age 48, I am rising above my mother's all too true characterization of me, which I remember hearing ever since I was a small child: "His eyes are bigger than his mouth".

I am also amazed at how little it takes to support our bodies . . . specially compared to how much we were eating before.

Yes, I can't believe it either! Instead of being raised to eat certain amounts (i.e. a food pyramid), we should be taught to eat until satisfied. I can have two cup-size Protein Shakes and one small snack a day and be full - of course I WANT waaaay more than that.

That's funny. My mom used to say that "my eyes are bigger than my stomach" which is probably true now!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
