kimyflan 0 Posted October 5, 2008 Don't worry. MY doctor said I COULD have caffine and I actually had some coffee right after my surgery!!! I had a caffine headache and he said I could have a few sips. The only reason you are told not to have caffine is because it dehydrates you. My Dr. said that I could have a cup of coffe in the morning as long as I get in ALL my fluids during the day. (64oz.) So, relax and have a cup of coffee on me. Some of you may disagree, but I am doing what my Dr. says. I was banded on 9/30 and am eating small portions of cottage cheese, yogurt and mushy life Cereal. I guess my Dr. is a bit more relaxed than others, but that is ok with me! I feel fine and am not overdoing it. Good luck!
cmmcguire66 0 Posted October 6, 2008 I was a caffeine whore for years! My husband made my coffee for me, and I asked him to gradually replace one teaspon at a time with Decaf. I never knew how much I was getting of the real stuff, and how much was decaf. I think I was on decaf for 2 weeks without even realizing it. I was crippled with Migraines, and it is a known fact that obesity causes migraines, especially in women, and caffiene makes it worse. Now, since the surgery & decaf switch, I only get migraines at that time of the month!

I really would like to be able to have one small cup per day, maybe not right away, but after a few weeks. :crying:
HelloPenny 0 Posted October 12, 2008 I think there is a lot of debate on coffee and tea and caffeine in general. I felt a lot better a few years ago after I read this article in Time. I dug it up for you all to read too. Green Tea, Black coffee - TIME
msk1968 0 Posted October 18, 2008 Can someone explain why you are giving up caffiene? I was banded on Oct 3, 2008 and I have not been told by my doctor to get rid of the caffiene.

You know, I don't really know why we have to give up caffiene. It is a stimulant and can make you become dehydrated. I drink a cup a day, I am not ridiculous with it, but I do enjoy a cup of coffee!
