Hello,

I have seen alot of people post that the first night or two they sleep in a lounge chair in their living room (not the backyard kinds). I do not have one of these available to me and was wondering if this would be an issue.

What are your thoughts on this as I only have a bed.

I went onto the internet and looked up wedge pillow. There are quite a few there. You can spend as much as you like. I bought one for 19.99 plus shipping and handling. Worked great for me.

Good luck on your surgery. I had mine on Sept.18th. I am healing nicely. The port site hurts some.

The wedge pillow is an excellent idea. You could also use a comfy chair at home if you are uncomfortable in bed. Just make sure that you have something soft, cushy and supportive to prop up your feet and maybe if you have a small pillow or two for behind you to find a comfortable angle.

Nothing beats a good recliner, even if you havent had surgery or a new baby or anything of the like. My family loves our recliners :0)

I had no problems sleeping in bed. I had to prop myself up so I wasnt flat but that is about it. If you have enough pillows and blankets to prop yourself up, dont waste your money. I used a blanket and 3 pillows for the prop and that worked just fine. It's up to you though

I too slept in bed from the first night. I used one extra pillow to help brace my torso and slept on my left side. The next night I slept on my stomach! You might get a little stiff and find it harder than usual to sit up but it is do-able and the stiffness passes quickly if you do have any!

I agree with HeatherO...my family fights over our recliner...but if you aren't up for buying one right now, bed is fine! Just get another pillow or one of those long body pillows (whatever sounds good to you) and you'll do great!

Am not scheduled to be banded until October 28th but the people at the support group I attend (and the surgeon confirmed) they requested a "belly band" (lapband patients -- at least the females -- spend their one night hospital stay on the maternity wing) which is supposed to give a little extra support for the first few days. I'm happy for that as have allergies which will cause some coughing and sneezing  in the morning hours and can just imagine the discomfort.

I wish you a not too uncomfortable experience.

I have a question about stairs after surgery. My bedroom in downstairs, are my going to have a problem going up and down the stairs?? I do have a recliner in my living room which does not required stairs but all my stuff is downstairs (clothes, bathroom stuff, etc.)......

Jaculin412...no the stairs shouldn't cause you any problems at all! The muscles used to climb or descend are mostly in the legs...the little bit of use your torso gets won't bother the band at all!

Well the first night will be in the hospital so only so much choice there, at least the bed can be adjusted. I'm hoping by the second night i feel a lot better.

I talked to my doctor about that because I have 18 stairs to get into my apartment then my apartment is up/downstairs also. He said that it would not be a problem at all!

I couldn't sleep in bed. I took a cusion off my love seat and used it and bed-pillows to prop myself up on the couch. I had to do that for about a week.

Stairs were no problem, just getting up and down and bending.

thanks for all of the information. I think I may look into a wedge for the bed since I have great pillows but not sure they would be good for support on layin on.

I didn't sleep in a recliner at all. I use tons of pillows on my bed for looks... So I just propped up a few on my bed behind me and then used a couple for snuggling and between my legs.

Really I was super comfy and healed really fast.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
