No, not worth it at all. I got a bunch of free sample in my info pack before surgery, the lemon creme are nasty though the watermelon were ok. Then I looked online at the prices -- my gosh they're outrageous

I find that if I cut regular generic $10 for 200 Vitamins in half they go down just fine.

I don't like Flintstones either (taste or texture).

We've also had gummi-vitamins -- look and taste just like gummi-bears, they're great! and while more expesive than generics they're still half the cost of the vastly overpriced bariatric advangage vitamins.

I'm reading up on supplements. My doc highly recommends Bariatric Advantage supplements. They have one specifically designed for lap band patients.

Just curious - is it worth paying out the wazoo for these Vitamins? I read in another thread that lots of people used Centrum and flintstones Vitamins.< /p>

I got the bulding blocks vitamins specifically for bariatrics from my surgeons office. ALthough i do need some advice too. im scared to take them in fear they will get stuck lol defeats the purpose haha :rolleyes2:

My offices reasoning to specifically take this sort of specialized Vitamin is that research was done and the mix of vitamins offered, help the most with hairloss due to rapid weight loss and lack of absorption. of course lapband doesnt have the absorption issue but we can lack nutrients and still have hair loss. That is why i bought them however, I took the offices word on it.

Man I had one chocolate Calcium chew and it almost did me in. That was the biggest chalkiest nastiest thing I've had in a while! I think they tend to lump us bandsters in with bypass patients. We don't have malabsorption issues and my doc told us our hair would fall out some at 3-6 months regardless of what supplements we took because it is caused by trauma and NOT Vitamin deficiency.

I say NO don't waste your money. Buy citrical petites for Calcium (they are little and you can take them easily) and your favorite chewable Vitamin.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
