Just wanted to say they SUCK!!!

Holy crap I almost had what I guess is anxiety attack over it lol.

Im never eating again EVER.

Well I had ran into issues before where I felt things a little stuck but nothing like the one today, I just got schooled in BAND 101.

1) tiny bits

2) chew the crap out of each bite

3) take your time eating

I broke all three rules and paid the price.:girl_hug:

Each surgeon has his/her own spin so don't take mine as gospel...but what I had to do was 2-3 of a specific brand of Protein Shake daily, 3 ounces lean fish chicken or turkey for dinner and 1 cup green veggie for dinner. no butter no frying no Condiments no nothing. AND 64 ounces (at least) of Water. PERIOD. No tea no coffee no diet soda no sugar free lemonade nothing. It was harsh but I dropped weight like there was no tomorrow and after 5 1/2 weeks and 32 pounds, it finally did the trick!

Thanks for the info, my husband is schedule for his procedure on Tuesday and the dr has already told them that they have not done it on a man his size and that he might have to pull out and wait a few weeks and let the liver shrink some more. I hope this doesn't happen.

He has been on the Protein Drinks and salad or steamed veg. for 2 weeks. I hope it works because he has been pretty miserable the last couple of days and if he has to go for another 2 or 3 weeks it will be brutal.

MAburt it's funny I'm the exact opposite (but then i didn't know I had a fatty liver until the first op) When he didn't place the band I cried honestly in recovery for less than 1 minute then got super determined. After that you'd have had to shoot me to get me to eat something other than those things the doc ordered for me! LOL

Anyway my doc said I was the first time (in well over 1000 patients) that he was unable to move the liver out of the way. It happens, but its rare. I will hope your husband's surgery is successful the first time!

Thank you so much! and good luck. You are right, getting through these pre and post op diets is about 99% mental! You just have to make up your mind to do it, and then don't waiver. It isn't fun, but it has to be done! :girl_hug:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
