MABurt 0 Posted September 21, 2008 I had my procedure on July 31st and my first fill on Sept 17th. I am 4 days into my first fill of 4cc in a 10cc band. I did liquids for 24 hrs and mushies for 24 hrs. The first night of liquids I had a discomfort/pain in my left ribcage about an hour after consuming. The next day I had oatmeal for Breakfast without any problems. For lunch I had broiled fish and could only take in about 4 small bites when the pain came again. It lasted for about an hour and even after I started drinking Water. I saw the tip about drinking warm liquids prior to eating and I tried it and it has been working for the last 2 days. I am drinking hot tea prior to each meal and have not had any pain or discomfort. I suppose I have not eat enough to fill full. I eat 3 meals each day, no snacking between. I'm probably eating about a fourth of what I was eating prior to pre-op liquids. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting due to overeating. Questions: 1. Should I be having the feeling of full by now? 2. Am I manipulating the band by drinking the warm liquids? Causing harm? 3. Is it possible that I did not allow enough time for the oatmeal to clear my pouch and therefore was full? 4. Should I be taking in only 1/2 cup of food at this point or is that later after a few fills? 5. Was my pouch just irritated for a couple of days after fill? 6. Should I have some fill taken out? 7. Am I confused or overreacting?:girl_hug:
ElusiveQuality 22 Posted September 21, 2008 Your stomach is most likely irritated after the first large fill. It too me about 8 to 10 days before everything came back to normal. Fish is pure Protein and any solid Protein source after a fill tends to clump up and give me some pain when it goes through the opening. You will likely not be feeling full after one fill. Unless you're in a lot of pain, ride it out for a few more days and see where you are.
crzytchr 3 Posted September 22, 2008 I have heard people say sometimes it takes a week or so before they feel restriction from a fill. I eat about a cup of food at each meal. If you aren't getting full, try backing off of the warm liquid now, it loosens the band up. You may not need that any more, but it does help when you are overly tight after a fill. You may also want to eat up to, but not over a cup of food, if the 1/2 cup is not filling you up. Did your doctor tell you only a 1/2 cup from now on? MABurt 0 Posted September 22, 2008 No, I wasn't told just a half cup but I have heard others say that would be about all I could eat.
