About that mushy stage

Recommended Posts

What did you eat? I do have instructions but that are not really specific as to what I can eat and what I can't.

So what I am asking is what you ate and what you were advised my you Dr that you could eat.

Thanks for the info!

On my mushie phase I was told to have anything that was on liquids list, then anything that was blenderized and strained through a wire strainer. I made roast beef and gravy for my family, and I blended up the meat with gravy and pushed it though the strainer to make sure that it was all pureed.

I even bought baby food... the strained meats and used my regular gravies and broth. Mashed potatoes were ok to have... just make them on the thinner side so they slide down easily. Poached eggs were also delicious by the time I could get off of liquids. Progresso Soups with chicken in the blender were good too. You'll become very inventive on your own!!

I am a cruncher and I like crunchy food, my DH bought me an ice crusher and I put crystal light or juices over the ice and crunched away!!!

If your doc isn't being specific, it would be best to ask the office rather than ask here. Advice on foods to eat post-op varies so much that it's better to be clear on what your doc wants.

During mushies, here's what I had:

Breakfast, Protein Drink or oatmeal, cream of rice, cream of wheat, grits with shredded cheddar

lunch/dinner: cottage cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, creamed Soups that I had put in blender first, mashed potatoes, Wendy's chili put in the blender first, canned carrots, applesauce

snacks: jamba juice, Jello

good luck!

pureed fish, poultry or meat

pureed or egg substitute

pureed eg chicken or tuna salad made with low-fat/fat-free mayo

canned tuna, canned chicken (in water)

pureed tofu

low fat plain or light blended yogurt

skim or 1% milk

unsweetened low-fat soy milk fortified w/calcium and Vitamin D

baby food meats

Other food:

pureed veggies (except for stringy--celery, asparagus, gas-causing--broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage and avoid veggies w/seeds such as cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini

whipped potatoes

canned fruit in its own juice, no added sugar

applesauce, unsweetened

banana

unflavored, cooked cereals (need to puree oatmeal)

low sugar baby foods (fruit or vegetable)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
