Hello from Idaho!

I had my surgery on 9/9/08 and I'm still feeling dizzy every morning and somewhat sick until about mid afternoon. I spoke with my Dr.'s nurse, she said more fluids and protien. So I've been doing that for the past 4 days but can't shake the dizziness. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you still taking any medications? OR do you have medications that you used to take and aren't post op? Do you have diabetes?

I only took the medication for a couple of days, so it's been about 8 days since I had any. I'm not diabetic, and my BP is good. (146/73 this morning).

Then I'm at a loss. Glad you aren't diabetic and your BP is ok...but at a loss. How much Protein are you getting? Have you always gotten dizzy if you skip a meal, for example? Things that can make you dizzy are low blood pressure, low blood sugar, certain drugs, inadequate oxygenation, inadequate hydration, or something wrong with your inner ear (like motion sickness)...or sometimes people have vertigo but that's still an ear thing. Does any of that fit you? If you're getting 60 or more grams of protein a day and are adequately hydrated, beats me. Is it just when you get up? (from bed, or from sitting?) if so, that could be orthostatic hypotension and until you see your doc, I'd just tell you to stand slowly and carefully...put feet on floor and give yourself a chance to "gather" if that makes sense. Any of that seem to fit?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
