Okay...a Breast Question...

Recommended Posts

I was banded a little over 2 weeks ago and have lost close to 20 pounds. I have large breasts and lately they have been itchy and very lumpy...has anyone else have this problem? Breast cancer runs in my family so the lumpy thing was making me pretty nervous...any input is welcome  Thanks in advance :)

Go in for a check up. There's nothing in the surgery that should make you lumpy...at least nothing I'm aware of. I'm large breasted and haven't had any issues at all...Best check with your gyn or primary care doctor to make sure it's nothing to be worried about.

That's what I was afraid of...Yeah my husband just thought that maybe since I lost that weight kind of fast that maybe it caused it...thank you though...I'll try to get in and update when I can

OK! Maybe your husband is right...or maybe you just have "fibroids" that are nothing and you couldn't feel them before. Best to confirm though! I'm sure you'll be fine!

I would think if its both breasts its not any thing to serious. Have you lost weight in your breasts and are now more aware of lumpy breasts? I know a lot of women have what they call lumpy breasts, I think its hormonal if I remember right. As far as the itching well who knows it could be anything including stress. Its a good idea to see a Dr. just to make sure . I wouldnt worry to much.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
