kaytiebugs 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I'm trying to find a Protein powder that 1) Doesn't taste like total crap 2) Doesn't cost a fortune 3) Has at least 30g protein/7 carbs or less per serving. Thus far the only thing I can find costs like $40 for 3lbs. Umm... no. I know there must be a better option. For the two day clear liquid diet, I guess I couldn't use a chocolate whey Protein Powder mixed with skim milk, right? My doc has some kind of clear Protein Drink I could use for the clear liquid part, but I'd rather not because it's expensive from what I recall. And could I just double the serving of some other Protein Powder, so long as the carb content didn't increase too much? I'm going to the dietician next week but every dietician says something different. PS- I'm sure this has been posted a zillion times. I honestly tried to find something online but can't and I can't dedicate two hours to searching various online stores, searching the forum, etc just to answer one tired question lol. Eat2Live 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I know it sounds odd but I tried numerous protien powders and typically, the cheaper you go, the worse they taste. They also save money by using low-quality Proteins. I use Myoplex myslef. Musclemilk taste great but too much sugar.
brown bear 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I also use Body Fortress from Wal-Mart. My doc recommended mixing with sugar-free instant pudding powder and Water. Pudding makes it much better. For clear liquid, you could use the Liquid Protein bullets. It looks like a large test tube and comes in fruit flavors. I hear that some Wal-Marts carry a 20g Protein version (mine doesn't). A 42g protein version is sold at GNC and Vitamin World and is expensive but if it is only for 2 days it is nice that you can buy small quantities instead of a tub. People usually mix these in Crystal Light because they are very strong straight.
Angelsma 1 Posted September 19, 2008 For me, I use Shaklee's vanilla Soy Protein powder (15 protein gram sper service and mix with a high-protein yogurt (low fat/low carb: Stoneyfield or Dannon = 15 protein grams) to make a delicious shake - add ice and you are good to go. Maranda 0 Posted September 19, 2008 We are fortunate were we live we have a store in the area that caters bariatric sugery individuals. I went in as I was informed they have try it before you buy it. I tried several high in Protein drinks. I settled on a powder by Syntrax chocolate truffle. I think I paid 39.99 for a very large container. It taste SOOO GOOD I questioned the sales rep there has to be something bad in it right.. NOPE ALL GOOD you can mix it with Water, milk half milk half Water. They all taste good anyway you look at it. The store rep recommended buy the vanilla powder then purchase some of the sugar free liquid sugars to change the flavors. The vanilla pwder was 39.99 and the large bottles of sugar free sugars were 7.99 and they had I believe over 9 flavors. So that is my next purchase. I think these are 110 calories per 8oz with 24grams of Protein. Now if you add milk I had 1% it has 8 grams of protein. I too like others wanted to find stuff I liked ahead of time. I purchased a 4pk Protein shake at a local store for 5.95 horrible I couldnt make myself take 2 sips of it. When I mentioned eating healthy is not cheap the store rep reminded me that I wont be purchasing as much food as before so it may seem like more money but may not be. I know my situation is much different for others as I have no children. But good luck to all in their endeavours finding the one right for them.

I bought my Body x Fortress super advanced whey protien powder 2 lb tub at Target store for $ 12.99 with price cut but normally $ 13.99 but still in all a very good buy. 1 scoop is (33 g) and (3 g) of carbs and doesn't have all the added sugar that most others have so be careful when choosing your drink
Bamagal 1 Posted September 20, 2008 For the two day clear liquid diet, I guess I couldn't use a chocolate whey Protein powder mixed with skim milk, Clear Liquids do not mean Protein Drinks with milk, for two days you can have Water, vitamin water,Gatorade, clear broth not cream Soups, and make Jello if permitted. For protein drinks I like Muscle Milk,EAS and GNC brands.Vanilla and Cookies and creme are my fav.GNC strawberry is nasty so is Choc-caramel.With vanilla you can add instant coffee, fruit ect. littlefroggy 0 Posted September 20, 2008 If you can drink whey, look for something called nectar. It is clear and makes a sort of juice. I bought the lemon flavor, and it tastes like lemonade. I also added a to-go pouch of lemonade crystal light, but don't think it's really necessary. New! NECTAR - The Protein that taste like fruit juice! It was very, very good, but I don't tolerate the whey, so only got to have it once! Try it! I found it at Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>
