nsv - thinking like a thin person

Recommended Posts

I was with another family on saturday.

we were a function together. I was with my mom, and then put on my sun glasses and followed them. I called out to my friend to wait for me.

her husband said "who is the skinning women". I felt so great. I was heavy for 15 years and thanks to my band and my trainer at the gym I am only 20-30 pounds and from my goal in 7 months. I think that having a trainer if you can afford it, (I don't eat out any more and save that money for my trainer), has been the best thing that has happened to me. I'm also duing the grouse grind on saturday, again for the 5th weekend in a row with my trainer and my kids. its 2900 stairs up the mountain, and amost 2 miles straight up and takes me 1 hour and 20 min. I'm still having a problem with thinking that I am still obese, and wonder who that person in the mirror is. I'm hoping that by the one year I can work around that.

anyway just wanted to let someone know how it is going.

Donna, You are quite an inspiration! I was banded on July 31 and just got my first fill on Sept. 10 and since then have had a really hard time staying on track. My Doctor said to go back to reg. food after a couple of days of liquids. I feel no restriction and feel like my SAFETY NET of the past two months of liquids and mushies is gone and I am so unsure of myself as far as real food is concerned. Am I making any sense? It is almost likje I can fall back into my old eating habits if I am not very careful. I do not go for another fill until Oct, 10 and am hoping to not gain back before then. Any advice?

Jenhay - Has your nutritionist told you about the 6" plate deal. She wants me to always have meals on a 6" plate.....fill half with Protein, a quarter with veggies and a quarter with a grain. Eat the Protein first to make sure you are getting the nutrients, go to the veggie next then, if you have room, eat the grain. Eating slowly really does help. I was banded on 8/19, have not had a fill yet and just started real food two days ago. Eating like this really helped. I had my plate made up of a veggie burger (11g protein) some green Beans and a tiny bit of sweet potato. It took me 1/2 hour chewing so slow that I couldn't even finish it all and I felt satisfied.

Donna, your story, as Jenhay said, is truly an inspiration, thanks for sharing.

Great Advise and weight that protein to make sure it's 3 oz.

You will feel the restriction on regular food, I sure did this week LOL

ate a tad too fast and bam got nauseous felt the restriction , slimed a little (ugggg) got up and waked till it went away. One more bite then you feel it. You will feel that restriction for sure if you eat one more mouthful then it can hold. Get my first fill today. Have my Protein shakes and smooth Soup on hand.

Take care all:tongue2:

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
