kcmagu posted this under another thread it sounded yummy:

Garbanzo Bean chocolate Cake (12 servings)

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo Beans, rinsed and drained

1 cup eggbeaters

3/4 cup Splenda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. espresso powder (opt.)

pinch of salt

1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting

Sliced strawberries for topping

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.

2. Place the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Cook in the microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring every 20 seconds after the first minute, until chocolate is melted and smooth. If you have a powerful microwave, reduce the power to 50 percent.

3. Combine the Beans and eggbeaters in the bowl of a food processor. Process until smooth. Add the Splenda, salt, espresso powder, vanilla and baking powder, pulse to blend. Pour in the melted chocolate and blend until smooth, scraping down the corners to make sure chocolate is completely mixed. Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pan.

4. Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving and top with sliced or diced strawberries.

In addition to topping with strawberries - I like to serve it a-la-healthy-mode: instead of ice cream, top with a dollop of splenda sweetened greek style fat free plain yogurt

Also good made as cupcakes (easier to keep to the 12 servings) - for a more decadent serving - warm slightly, poke a little hole in the top and place a small scoop of vanilla or coffee frozen yogurt - to help myself out I use a small scooper - golf ball sized scoops

I like to keep it as simple and easy as possible: how about adding protien powder to chocolate pudding? I use choc/PB protien powder and you could add it to the powder mix, or just buy the ready-made cups and stir into it. I also found this receipe in a weight loss surgery book from the library, sounds yummy, but I haven't made it yet:

strawberry Ricotta Whip

In food processor mix following until smooth: 2.5 cups strawberries, 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp grated orange zest, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 4 packets sweetner. Whip 6 tbsp egg white and 1/2 tsp cream of tarter until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the strawberry mixture. Pour into 4 small dessert bowls and chill overnight. The book says lap band patients can have this week 1+. Here's the nutritional breakdown:

Calories 85.92

Protien 8.89g

Fat 0.38g

Carbs 14.01g

Colesterol 3.83mg

Fibre 2.41g

Sodium 85.27mg

If you have a whole foods market, they have it by all the yogurts. I bought som Fage brank on Oikos brand the other day. I sliced fresh strawberries, 1/4 c granola with dried fruit, 6 walnuts with 1 sm container of Fage 2% greek yogurt and added some spenda and yum yum yum. It's a meal in and of itself and satisfiys any sweet craving you might have.

Hey Ladies,

Just saw this on another thread...use a clear Protein drink (the poster used Isopure, I think) as the "water" in your Jello mixture. You can pick a flavor of Isopure / Protein Water that is compatible with your Jello, or you can use an unflavored jello...

Haven't tried it yet, but I will try to get the materials and make up a batch this weekend for a test-drive. I'm hoping to be banded in October, and definately want to keep the protein level high!:crying:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
