time between two meals

Recommended Posts

I want to know what should be the time interval between two meals that one eats . The problem with me is that I cannot eat more than one oz at a time but then at times feel like eating again within one hour . I havent had a fill yet and am not planning to get one in near future .

I was told 5hrs between meals, and just 3 meals a day & 1 snack totaling 600-800 calories. I've had 1 fill and have no restriction and am hungry every 3hrs and am eating around 1000 calories a day. I have been lucky, an have not gained any weight even managed to loose a couple pounds.

When were you banded Parul? That's going to have a lot to do with it. When I started soft foods in week 4 post-op (and before any fills) I was eating 1/2 cup of chicken or tuna salad and 6 Ritz crackers with no problem for lunch, and 3 oz of chicken, fish or turkey plus 1/2 cup of vegetables for supper. At first that would satisfy me for a good 3 hours or more, but now, in week 6, it only holds me for about 2 hours. It's not surprising that your 1 ounce of food is only keeping your hunger away for an hour. Are you just physically not able to eat any more than that, or is 1 ounce at a time what you doctor has told you?

Wow... only one ounce of food at a time. Is that one ounce by weight or volume? It just seems like such a small amount to be able to eat. Have you been back to your doctor? I think I'd have to ask him about that. From what I've read, most people's pouches hold between 1/2 to 1 cup of food.

i eat on avg a cup of food at each meal, and eat every 3-4 hrs (on avg).

3 meals + 1 or 2 Snacks, i try to get my calories around 1100..

I've decided that my pouch holds a little less than a cup, because when I do eat a full cup....ow. I get a feeling kind of like having a stitch in my side, but right about where the band is.

In your instance, since you are eating so little at a time, I would say that they most important issue is to keep a close eye on the nutritional values of your food. Nibble all day on a piece of fruit all day if you have to in order to get the nutrients you need! This may go against the popular wisdom but the band is not designed to starve your body of nutrition!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
